I noticed in an earlier 2006 post Danielle asking about Quicken 2005-6
reviews
and Byron G. responding that 2005 was buggy.

I don't do all the fancy stuff with Quicken that seem to be the major
concern about the bugs in these recent versions. So, I've been
muddling along with 2005 after leaving '98 Classic and enduring a few
minor crashes. But then I suffered a bigger one that left me unable to
open my Quicken file.
Fortunately, I had a backup and only had to re-entry a day's work.

So I returned here and began looking at some of the alternatives to
which Bruce points.

I also came across a notice that Unsanity's MenuMaster was
incompatible with Quicken 2005 and so Q2005 needed to be added to the
MM disable list. I've done this and hope this makes a difference.

I'd rather not have to endure the learning curve to switch to
MoneyDance, or whatever.

Disable Registration prompt Quicken 2005

2008-10-25 Thread RediG3-5

I've been plugging away with a Classic version of Quicken
because in later versions they abandoned the always-updated
recent account open bar, but decided to reactivate my copy of Quicken
2005
in hopes that it would provide more customizable reports. It doesn't
but I'm happy to move another app out of Classic.

However, the registration prompt keep poping up and
you cannot register. I see on other forums that this is not an
uncommon problem
and there is a lot of dissatisfaction with Quicken being reported.

Does anyone know how to disable that Registration Prompt?

I'm also open to suggestions on personal financial software.
I'm looking a iBank and CheckBook and I think there's an open source
app
too that I'll track down.

Thanks,
Cliff

GnuCash and MoneyDance are other likely suspects. GnuCash is OSS, and
an X-windows program installable via fink or Macports.

Some searching found Jgnash, whcih despite its Klingon-ish name looks
pretty nice.

My searches didn't turn up this link
I was using 'Open source' as a key phrase, you must have been using a
linux approach or something.

That's very helpful Bruce
Thank you
