They have some 6 different versions, 6 wire to 4 wire, 4 to 4, 6 to
6, and more. The question is what is the FireWire that is configured
for our G4, G5 and so on? Any help will be appreciated. BTW I did

All Macs with Firewire400 use 6-pin connections. The other end depends
on what you're connecting to, they may be 4 or 6 pin. FW800 cables are
9 pin and are another kettle of horses.

Also, you sorely overpaid for that 6-6 cable. A 6pin to 6pin 6 ft
cable is $2.75 at Monoprice

I never buy a cable anywhere else, unless I need it immediately (and
at that our local electronics supply store is still cheaper than Frys!
I bought a FW800-FW400 6-pin cable there for $11.)

Not sure what the question asks. The type of cable you need depends
on what you are trying to connect. The FW400 is different than the
FW800. All the machines I have except my wife's 2009 MacBook Pro have
a FW400 6 pin plug. My HD video camera has a small 4 pin plug, thus I
have to have a cable with the appropriate ends.

What was your question?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FireWire-46_Diagram.svg

The left connector on the above picture is FW400.
The smaller one on the right is FW800.

6 pin cables are FW400, with power.

4 pin cables are FW400, without device power.

Then there are all the odd shaped mini connectors... they're usually
only 4 pin, so no gots power.

$22 for a 6-pin ... seems awfully expensive.
