Re: Heat sink Fasteners for ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Howdy, On ebay, I found a complete heatsink for $8 delivered with fasteners. I did not look through all the offerings, so there may be a better deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300280929875 Good luck, Ralph On Thu, 2009-02-19 at 20:37 -0500, Dana Collins wrote: > On 2/19/09 5:19 PM, PeterH of peterh5...@rattlebrain.com sent > > On Feb 19, 2009, at 1:54 PM, Dana Collins wrote: > > > >> Anybody know where I could get replacements, or can think of a viable > >> alternative? A great many years ago, I was lucky ... should that be the correct term ... to "score" quite a number of G3 PDS upgrade cards for 7100/7100/9150 NuBus PowerMacs at a VERY low price. But ... these cards were all "less heatsinks". Yet, Digi-Key stocked the very generic G3 heatsinks which these cards required to complete them. All except one was thereby "resurrected". The video cards are using a BGA packaged GPU chip. It is highly likely that a generic heatsink, and generic latches are being used. So, perhaps "BGA Heatsink Retainers". --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Digi-key and Mouser show "nothing matches" to my searches - I presume I do not have just the right syntax for naming the item that is in their inventory; taking a "show and tell" to a computer store may prove more helpful. Heat sink Fasteners for ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Greetings all, I had a nice swap recently that netted me, to my surprise, a working ATI Mac Radeon 9800 Pro 4x/8x AGP video card. Like so many ATI fans before, this fan (on the heat sink) was toast - I was able to come up with a good replacement, but the heat sink fasteners (those 2 little plastic push-in posts) were so brittle they broke apart with one touch (I am sure the card had run fan-less for a while). Anybody know where I could get replacements, or can think of a viable alternative? (I doubt AMD/ATI has a way to purchase "just" them).
