If your keyboard doesn't have a dedicated eject key, the F12 key
normally functions as eject if you hold it. There is also an eject
menu bar item that adds an eject button to the upper right of your OS
X menu bar. To add this menu bar eject button navigate to
SystemLibraryCoreServicesMenu Extras folder and double-click the
eject.menu file. This should add an eject button to your menu bar,
which should eject the drive.

In Leopard at least, you can use Disk Utility to eject a disc that isn't
mounted on the desktop. Just start Disk Utility from
/Applications/Utilities, click on the CD/DVD and then click Eject at the
top.

Also does anyone know if A DVD drive from the indigo is an easy swap?

Thanks all,

The manual eject button for the slotload DVD/CD/CDRW drive is on the far right
of the slot. Or you can reboot and hold down the keyboard eject key and/or the
mouse button. All three should work.

All CD/DVD/CDRW drives in all G3 slotload iMacs (350-700 MHz) are
interchangeable.

If all else fails, you can remove the optical drive and remove the top to gain
access. I've written about how to do this in past iMac list posts.

Good luck!

I didn't know these had manual buttons. I would like to add that you
can also use two credit cards to 'grab' the disc and pull it out.
(look on youtube for CD stuck in slot load drive or something like
that...)

Thanks, I may have to use that. The internal eject is not working. I'm not
ready to disassemble the unit quite yet.
