 Greetings all.
A little assistance would be appreciated.
I have an office G5 running 10.5.8; attached via USB is the printer,
 an HP Laser Jet P1505n.
Recently, the printer suddenly decided to NOT print but instead send
all requests to an ever-increasing queue list, with no intention of
ever printing them (pause-resume-delete items proved fruitless)
After deleting this list, I deleted the printer as a default printer
and re-loaded it; no go. Re-installing drivers did not help either.
I am now at the place where, if I select it as a recognized option for
adding it to my personal list of printers in the Print and Fax
preference, I get the following error message:
An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer.

I believe I am at the point where I need to throw away *everything*
related to the printer, compelling the Mac to completely forget that
the printer ever existed, so to speak.
 What do I throw away?

Delete the printer in System Prefs.

 go to:

 /Library/Printers/

You probably have a folder named 'hp', go looking for a folder in the
laserjet subfolder with that model printer.

 Trash it with extreme prejudice.

Go into the PPDs folder, find the ppd associated with the HP, and
 delete it.

This is one of HP's icky host-based printers, so there might be cruft
in /Library/Printers/PPD Plugins folder associated with it, too.

This, in theory should completely suppress your computer's memories of
 that awful printer.

Greetings, Bruce.
Thank you for the replay and instructions.
I would agree with your assessment of the 1500's.
Most of the indicated folders you mentioned weren't in the system, even
after I ran a fresh install of HP's designated driver - wonder what's up
with that? I think in the end I am going to swap this unit out for the 1120
that's attached to my office's PC station - both printers are compliments of
our IT - thanks, IT! :-P
Thanks (genuine) Bruce.
Best regards,
Dana

Try getting new drivers from the HP website. That might help. It
worked for me that time when i bought an HP Photosmart C4200 and after
a while i ran into the same problems that you did. I unplugged
and-replugged everything, un-installed the printer, and re-installed
it using downloaded drivers.
