Re: Quicksilver- Graphics card won't go in Tab Slot
First of all, the Quicksilver had an AGP video card, not PCI. There were also two generations of the Quicksilver, made in 2001 and 2002--but both should have the same universal AGP 4x slot (brown with green retainer clip). Just in case, have a look at the slot and make sure it has the correct keying for the card. The 2001 Quicksilver I have has a universal slot, with no keying but other models might have a keyed slot. I just tried removing and reinserting the card in my Quicksilver; I had no problems... You should only have to move the tab a little bit, the top should be slanted to deflect around the tab in the card. Also make sure you're not catching on anything, sometimes the end with the ports doesn't fit in the hole quite right. On Thu, Aug 1, 2013 at 8:46 AM, TriumphNut wrote: > I have two quicksilvers. Quicksilver- Graphics card won't go in Tab Slot
I have two quicksilvers. The one with the 125GB Sonnet Daughterboard went out. Think the fan Quit and it Toasted the Chip. I Pulled the Ram, the 5 port USB2 PCI card, the 4Port Firewire PCI card and the *NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with 32MB of SDRAM *Graphics PCI card to switch to my other Quicksilver. only problem, the Tab on the Graphics card won't go into the Slot. I've carefully bent the tab both ways and it still won't go down. The Contact Strip will go in fine just the outer mounting tab lacks a good quarter inch Going down. I've been going inside my Mac's since 1986 and this is the first time I've been stumped with this. I have software that won't work with my Intel Mac Pro Tower. May be forced to buy another Quicksilver on eBay.
