OS 9 works on my PM G5 in Tiger as Classic it will not boot in any PPC Mac with 
FW 800.  And it doesn't work on any Leopard system.

It can't boot to OS9, though.

  Yes,

 10.4 will support OS9 classic (10.5 won't) so you'll need to instal OS9.
