out of the G5. I haven't done anything with it in a while, i once
tried to install tiger (running panther right now) but i could't, it
gave me some message about it not being able to install Mail. that was
my last attempt of doing anything with it.
one thing i have noticed looking into this topic, that i have

If you don't know what to do with your G5 how about you put it in a box and
send it to me? ;-)

Re: what can i do with my old G5?

2010-05-11 Thread lana
I am a newbie myself but have a question. What specifically do you want to
do with this G5, email,internet,graphic art,operate your ipod,write
letters, store documents? I have  a G4 that does all kinds of things. I would
imagine a G5 would do more. You might be able to install leopard ppc. My G4 has
that and is a lesser machne.
How much ram? How big is your hard drive? To find out, click on the apple
icon in the left hand corner of the screen. What kind of processor do you
have? Then click on 'about this mac. ram is memory.
I had a friend who said her g5 was too loud but somehow she got that fixed.
Another way of exploring the G5 is to click on system preferences to see
what is there.

Tiger shouldn't be a problem. I have a G4 running leopard. Do a clean
install if you aren't doing anything else with it right now.
