At the very top would be the original poster, and at the very end, the
last response. This way I can read from top to bottom.
in tbird mail click on the spiral thing on right edge of subject line.

I have T-bird set up now. But still have a problem. This is what I want.
I want to follow the conversation in T-Bird just as they will appear on
the web-page of Google. Can I do that? Please!

last response. This way I can read from top to bottom.

With T-bird now, I get responses to portions of the original post. To be
able to read the entire post and responses, I'd have to read T-bird
chronologically, and that means going through each e-Mail on a
particular thread as they appear. Do I make sense? Please say I do.

Thanks,
Michael

I use Gmail in IMAP mode using Mail on my macs. Turn on threading or
sort by subject (usually) and you can follow things.

Here are Gmail's help on this:

IMAP gives you the best of all worlds, you can use a real email client
instead of a web page, and IMAP lets you access it from any computer
you have (a nice thing when your someone like me who has three I use
all the time...work, laptop and home systems.)

Thanks a lot Bruce. I will take a look at the link, but I suspect the
problem with IMAP is getting T-bird to work, actually not T-bird, but
finding out how to configure the it with the network at work.

TBird is our standard mail client here, it works quite well with IMAP
servers

I use to write from micky001ATfastmailDOTus.

Recently I decided to dump that e-Mail for larger space with G-

love you guys, don't want to miss a word here.

Either I'm not used to the system, or G-mail is not set up right,
but I don't seem to like it.

I use to have an abridged collection sent me. Now I have direct e-
 Mails.

That is a function of your settings at GOOGLE. I.E. Digest or
individual E-Mails

Chuck D.

With the former, I'd click on a link from my T-bird in box and
follow the discussions logically; from start to finish. The link
 opens on my browser.

With G-Mail and 'instant' e-Mail from the group, it's not that
logical. I get the last response and have to go search for the
 initial question.

Can someone please say how they use Google's G-mail on this group
and how they have it set to produce their following discussions
 logically.

Bruce, Kris, Dan, (and others-others, please forgive me for
 forgetting your name) I'm back!
