Hmmm. It's been a couple of years, but I had a Nano with a
busted screen. I googled around and found a source on-line
that sold screens. The instructions were good and I got
mine opened and repaired for about $30. They also had
batteries with similar instructions.

Either on-line or local (Atlanta, GA).

Ifixit does DIY iPod repair http://www.ifixit.com/, iResQ
http://www.iresq.com/
(used to be MacResQ, in business a long, long time, they were my
source for a new PS for my Mac Plus ages ago) does mail-in repairs.

You have cleaned all electrical connections ?

And all connections and wiring are in good shape with no wear or looseness?

Re: Recommendations for iPod repairs?

2009-08-21 Thread Gorka L Martinez Mezo

I repaired my 5th gen ipod broken screen through www.ifixit.com. The
components were fairly priced, although SH was a rip off (more than the
actual cost of the components, which may have weight less than 100gr!).

They have both repair tutorials and troubleshooting guides. Maybe you can
get down to ID the exact problem.

Re: Recommendations for iPod repairs?

2009-08-21 Thread iWill

Thanks all, ifixit was the first place I looked, but the nano is
really small and delicate, unlike my hands!

I know that the guides there are great, I recently had to perform open
HD surgery on my iBook :)

I will take a look at iResq (thanks Bruce)

Also, I will take a look at the dock connector, as suggested by
Wallace, to make sure that nothing is causing a short in there.

Will
