Re: Wireless stopped working

I can also confirm this. Most new routers will only operate at hi speed with
the newer encryption standards, so if you have a G5 or G4 or even earlier, cat5
is the way to go I have many altivec-era ppc Powermacs and they will not
connect securely to new routers. If that however is your thing, just find out
how to adjust in your routers settings page. Sadly, I used a iPhone 3GS and a
4s and they were not allowed to connect unless I used the less secure settings
on my router... you could always use another older router as an AP.
Turning off router functions and using it as a wireless switch, and in that
routers function you only supply an ip to a few select devices such as your
G4 Just my 2¢. I’ve also done this and I know it works linksys
routers are a dime a dozen and a second hand store or craigslist

Many newer wireless routers, particularly budget priced, don’t support the
older wireless standards like 802.11b that the Airport is. I would check your
router’s supported standards first.

Wireless stopped working

2018-10-31 Thread Crab King
I pulled my PowerMac G4 out of the closet and found that it will not connect
wirelessly. I never had this problem before so I am wondering if there is a
fix for the airport cards or are they too far out of date that new hardware is
needed. My one G4 is a MDD 867 MHz dualie running Leopard. I do not know
about my older G4 running Tiger but one problem at the time. Anybody got any
ideas.
