Here's a long discussion of an identical problem: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-desktops/190340-g5-imac-isight-problem.html I agree, it's likely either RAM, HD, or heat. Heat happens mainly when the HD goes bad; or when the cooling fan dies, which you can usually feel or hear. Also, the iMac G5 was known to run hot to begin with, so it doesn't take much extra to cause problems. The suggestion of installing a temperature monitor is good. Removing a stick of RAM to troubleshoot it is also good if you have multiple sticks. There's a chance the kernel panic log will contain information to lead you in the right direction IF it's some other problem, but not likely if it's RAM, HD, or heat. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. If it's regular enough I would try booting from an installer disk and see if you get the problem. If you do then it's either the memory or the motherboard. If you don't then it's likely the HD. Since you reinstalled the OS it's probably the HD itself is failing. -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting I'm a designated driver on the Information Super Highway -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. How regular are these problems? once every 30 min to 2 hrs. Since you reinstalled the OS it's probably the HD itself is failing. I tested it with Apple test DVD that came with an iMac g5 iSight Results Lobo Passed HDD passed RAM Passed Video RAM Passed -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
