Does that mean that I can take the ZIF from the (I hope I have the
terminology correct) G4 and put it in the Beige?

 My ZIF upgrade is 500mhz.

I overclocked my yikes 400 mhz to 450 (with a fan). I tried 500 and i
got an error on boot,
but I might try it again (resetting the inside switch and pram 3 times
- i am not sure I did this
the first time, maybe my intuition was telling me better burn in the
450 first)

I thought that the upgrades for beige were 550 rated ? your speed
depends on the jumper settings...

If i got a 550 I was going to try it at 600, or a 500 at 533... (with
the fan which is large). I did overclock my beige and have some
success at 466 (except in warm weather - I didn't try a fan and in the
DT model there is not room for bigger heat sink).

BTW I hung the fan below the dvd by string around it.

Interested to hear your results.

 My ZIF upgrade is 500mhz.

If the G4 you have is a Yikes, aka pci graphics, then, yes, the
processors are swappable.

If your G4 is is a Sawtooth, (with agp graphics) then, no, the
processors are not swappable.

According to MacTracker, the fastest Yikes was a 400 MHz. So unless
you have a Yikes with an upgraded processor, the odds are that the
processors are NOT swappable.
