No it is not. The thinking was that autoscaling should be responsive and
spot instance are not necessarily predictable so we decided against it. We
can revisit that idea though if you're keen?

Hi all,

I realize when you manually add a node you can request that it be a spot 
instance.  Is it also possible to use spot instances for auto-scaling?
