[Audyssey] STFC SP1 released.

2006-05-23 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi, gamers.
USA Games Entertainment would like to announce the immediate
availability of STFC service pack 1 in a galaxy near you. This service
pack fixes several major and miner bugs in 1.0 beta. Among the issues
addressed is problems with the autopilot menus, repairing of Defiant's
cloaking device, starbase and starship power-ups, updates to the Borg
AI, and more. In addition as per popular request standard Federation
phasers are much stronger, but less than the Defiant's phasers.
So warp on over to
http://www.usagames.us
go to the downloads page
and download the service pack from the STFC SP1 link.
Enjoy.

Hi Tom,

I am not sure if this would work, but I was thinking that allot of developers
put all of the sound files in a sub folder, well I was thinking that you could
have a separate sub folder, one for male and one for female and then the choice
in the game would select which voice sub folder to use. Just thought that
might be an easy way to include both voices.

[Audyssey] USA Games suggestion

2006-05-23 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi. I write this here in the hopes it can be seen by others to get
opinions so Tom, I hope you do not mind.

I'm wondering if you would be open minded to a couple of changes or
suggestions in the documentation for your games.

I was going over the Final Conflict manual and have the following
suggestions to make.

1. Make the manual in either .txt ascii or .htm html format.

2. Add a simple navigation system lsimilar to what BSC Games and GMA
Games does like plus signs, minus signs, or at signs to separate
sections. If making the manual in html format this could easily be
accomplished by the use of heading tags.

What do you think?

Hi Ivan,
It would be nice to know what the game is, how big it is, system
requirements, etc and so forth.
In addition, I am very uncomfortable opening up programs that haven't been
proven to be free from maliscious intent, whether intentional or not.
So if you got a web site up and other information readily available, I think
it would be more benificial to yourself and everyone else.

 Hi, Jim.
That would work of course, but as I was playing the game I quickly
realised by going back to Arizona it would completely ruin all I have
worked to build. Once people play the new Monty they will understand
clearer my vision for the game. In ways it is the old Monty, but this
version has many updates and changes over the original demo that was out
I think people are going to be blown away.
This version has much better quality music and sound effects, better
keyboard and joystick support, selectable dificulty levels, etc. To me
personally Angela is as much a part of the game as Laura Croft is to
 Toomb Raider.
Like I said I'll make a zip file of original Arizona Smith sounds for
folks who want them, but beyond that I have decided I am not going back
 officially.

2006-05-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi, Raul.
No problem. I was thinking of doing that anyway so you are just
reinforcing my own ideas. Smile.
seriously, I have an all new STFC 1.0 manual in the works in Word and it
is no problem to save it as text and include it in the next
patch/update/release.
As for plus signs I think it is like triple pluses at the beginning of
sections that is extremely easy to do and I'll add that in to the monty
and stfc manuals later this afternoon.

 Hi.
I like the tr cross over myself. Although, another possability is out
there. The name Arizona isn't specifically male although we have been
thinking of the name as a he. Arizona can be a girls name as in the old
song Arizona in which it was about a girl named Arizona.
Hmmm... any takers for changing the name back to Arizona, but keeping
 the character female?

I'm just curious what the differences are between these two games asside
from the fact that stfc uses newer ships? I know there is more but I'd
 like to hear the differences.

I'm not saying this to suggest one game is better than the other one. I
simply would like to know the differences.

Re: [Audyssey] What's ahead for Montezuma's Revenge.

2006-05-23 Thread Ryan Strunk
What the heck? Here's my thought.

Tom, I mentioned before that I believe your artistic integrity to be the
sole deciding factor in how you handle your game production, but seeing as
how others are clamoring for Arizona, why not make him unlockable? At the
end of the game, if you scored a certain amount of points, you could use
Arizona Smith. If you wanted to, you could make him slightly different--give
him less health, make him slower, or some such.
Heck, if you finished the game with Arizona Smith and enough points, you
might even unlock the original Panama Joe--a pixilated, 2 bit sounding
character with one point of health. Sort of anachronistic and charming in
its own way.

Subject: [Audyssey] What's ahead for Montezuma's Revenge.

Hi, listers.
Many of you are wondering about details on the new Montezuma's Revenge.
So here is what is currently happening with Monty.
* As of the latest build, 5/22/2006, Monty now has one of the highest
quality sounding environments of any accessible game on the market. It
sounds so real it sounds almost as good as a dvd or like you are in a
movie. I guess it has to be heard to be believed.
* Some bugs have just been fixed such as the game having slow
proformence while moving the game character such as walking, jumping,
climbing, etc.
* Joystick and game support is now fully apart of the game. Some issues
remain with the functionality, but I am working towards addressing that
soon. As well as a built in joystick button mapper so that you may map
your joystick for your preference.
* Temple 2 is now in the works. Once I am done with temple 2, and I am
sure everything is stable to test I will post Alpha 1 for release.
Which means we could have a release by June to play with. All depends on
how much time it takes tracking down the current issues.
Finally a question. I have had a few requests on the directed to USA
Games sales asking us to put Arazona Smith back in to the game. Anyone
else agree with this, apose this, or don't care? Send us your thoughts.
Smile.

Hi. I was not sure but what are the demo limitations for the game? I was
playing, not so well I might add smile. When all of a sudden the game
ended and I got a thank you notice.

The game is definitely entertaining and I love the sound effects.

Re: [Audyssey] difference between Trek2000 and stfc

2006-05-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi, Raul.
Man, there is a tun of differences between the two games. Some are
cosmetic, and others are not so cosmetic.

1. You command 5 ships rather than 4.
2. You must fight a total of 15 enemies instead of 12.
3. The Klingons can cloak in STFC where in Trek 2k they could not.
4. You get to command Defiant which means in STFC you have one ship with
a working cloaking device in Trek 2k the old Constilation-class Defiant
didn't have one.
5. Ememies are smarter, tuffer, and much more difficult in STFC.
6. You get to face off with the Borg which is a unique challenge in of
itself.
7. STFC is completely self voicing and Trek 2k was not.
8. STFC uses extremely high-quality effects to hopefully sound as good
as it can.
9. in my code I can turn on virtual 3D to give the game a virtual 3D
effect although it is buggy, and turned it off for the time being to
standard stereo. In Trek 2k the sounds really have no special audio
positioning effects other than the bridge.

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Revenge Users Guide.

2006-05-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi, Ryan.
When you press the jump button or key Angela jumps up, and in the
direction she is facing. If Angela is facing right she jumps up and then
over to the right. If she is facing left she jumps up and over towards
the left. If she is facing up she jumps strait up only.
So point is no matter the direction she jumps in to the air but if
facing left or right as she is jumping up she is also heading in that
direction as well.

2006-05-23 Thread Dave
Hello Ron and list,
Ron when i saw your byline The devastated i had to write to give you a
hint against the borg. And then i thought, the list can use this too, so
here goes.
When engaging the borg do not, i repeat do not, attack them with a single
ship, unless you intend for that ship to be sacrificed as a delaying action,
giving the rest of your fleet time to gather elsewhere.
Good luck.
Dave.
