proving trickier than I expected. It's well worth it though.

Well my first AGM project was going to be a remake of the Atari game
  Frogs
and Flies, but another idea struck me while I was attempting to
  figure
  out
how to do that. So now I've switched gears and am starting work on
  another
Atari remake, Adventure. Adventure is, for all intents and purposes,
  the
first true Roleplaying game. It is I suppose the ancestor of the
  Legend
  of
Zelda series and perhaps even Final Fantasy. In Adventure, you'll
  control
a bold adventurer out to find treasure and recover a stolen chalice
  from
the clutches of an evil dragon. But it won't be easy. The dragon has
enlisted the aid of his two vicious brothers, whose fortresses stand
between you and your ultimate goal. While I do intend to add quite a
  bit
more to this remake than was found in the original, it still won't
  exactly
be fancy. Right now I'm just attempting to figure out how to link
  portals
to specific worlds, then the opponents and things like that. I've
  already
written out a basic manual and i do have some sounds already
  selected,
  but
if anyone on list has or knows where I can find some decent dragon
  sounds
(mainly fire breathing), I'd appreciate it. If anyone wants me to
  send
them the manual so they can see what I'm trying to do, I'll be happy
  to
  do
  so.

 Hello all
Does anyone remember one of my first questions on this list asking about
 a
game where you go through walmart, terrorizing and vandalizing? Well I'm
sort of writing a blueprint for what I'd like to do and how I'd like to
 do
this wonderful thing using agm. I'm interested in Thomases opinion since
he was one of the only ones who took me seriously, but Che or anyone else
is welcome to send me feedback on or offlist. Here is what I'm thinking.
I'm not wanting to sell anything or do anything monumental, but I do
believe that destroying walmart by using hairjspray, toys, women's
clothing, etc. could prove both exciting and challenging, teaching me a
lot about agm and not being too hard to do, depending on what I wanted to
do. But I'm wondering if there are any tips the devs onlist can give me?
Do I need to write an outline, a txt document? Just wondering what a few
steps I should start off with are? I've already recorded some walmart
stuff in sterio and have pretty much all the sounds I need, and can
 create
any ones I might need in the future... Just curious if anyone has any
 suggestions..
Overall I'm gonna go for sound quality, not a processor hog, but I want
the game to sound like you're walking through walmart and doing
 different
 things there. *grins*
Back to the agm manual and stuff! Thanks for any comments...

Thanks to your alternate site, most of my game recordings worth keeping

Hi Josh,
I figure STFC 2.0 will likely be free. First, 1.0 was free, and it would
be kind of pointless to go from a free product to a paid one. Second, I
don't really want to deal with the hastle it would cause to properly
license the Star Trek logo, ships, etc from Paramount. Third, there are
very few quality games out there that are free.

Hi,
I highly doubt it would run on ppc or Smartphone. There isn't enough
memory to keep it loaded. Especially not on PPC 2003, where everything
is in RAM. There is only about 10 MB of flash on the PAC Mate. 64 MB of

Other operating systems just refuse to run programs that aren't

Would those be found on the Sound RTS site? Admittedly I haven't worked on

If anyone wants me to
  send
them the manual so they can see what I'm trying to do, I'll be happy
  to
  do
  so.

[Audyssey] Games for the Mac

2007-08-16 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hi all

I'm sending this here because it's an area of gaming and such I'm not all
that aware of, so any helpful suggestions are extremely welcome!

Ron
Audyssey Editor
Hi Ron, Thank you so much for a most enjoyable publication. In future
publications, I would like to read about some games that either are in
development, or are available for the Apple/MacIntosh computer. I was
an avid game player when I used Windows; however, I switched back to
the Mac, the first operating system I learned to use in the 1980's.
With the evolution of VoiceOver, more and more blind people are
switching to the Mac, and are requesting that more games be developed
for play on a Mac machine. If you know of any developers who are
working on games for the Mac, either self-voicing or ones that take
advantage of VoiceOver, Apple's talking interface for the Mac, this
information would be most useful. Thanks again for sending me this
latest issue, and I enjoyed reading it.

Re: [Audyssey] sound rts: does python run on windows ce for the pacmate?

2007-08-16 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Gabe,
I believe there is a python 2.5 runtime for Windows CE, but I'm not
certain how Sound RTS would run on the Pacmate.
The pacmate has a limited amount of memory and storage space compared to
a fully qualified Windows or Mac system.
You may encounter hardware limitations in running Sound RTS on Windows CE.

[Audyssey] Team Talk server for gamers up at Blind Adrenaline

2007-08-16 Thread Che
  Hi all,
I set up a team talk server on blind adrenaline today.
If you haven't used team talk, I highly reccomend it for voice chat, nothing
else is as easy to use with such good voice quality, and it has no lag issues
on the dedicated server.
you can create your own rooms as well, and position all the people in 3d
space, so it sounds like they are all around you when you are chatting, which
is quite cool.
you can get the software here:
http://www.bearware.dk/software.php
Just look for team talk for windows on that page.
After install, you can set it up for voice activation or push to talk, where
you hold down a button such as control to talk, either way works fine.
To connect to the server, press f2 in the team talk program.
You will then enter a URL site and ports.
 the url is
www.blindAdrenaline.com
   the tcp port is 10300
and UDP is 10301
i think it defaults to those ports, but I am not sure.
Let me know if you have any questions, I think this will be great for voice
chatting while we play our accessible games.
  Later,

[Audyssey] STFC Sweet Revenge

2007-08-16 Thread Thomas Ward
Hello gamers,
After a long stretch of no games of STFC tonight I decided to give STFC
1.2 a really good fight. The first two games I was completely routed
losing all of my ships and sometimes stations. On the beginner level of
all things. However, the final game made up for my two losses by totally
creaming the enemy. Thus the name of this message Sweet Revenge.
As STFC began it randomly placed everything all over the place, but
fortunately for me DS9 was dead center of Federation space. I figured
tactically this would be the best place to mount a defense against the
incoming Cardassians, Klingons, and Romulans. So the first order of
business of the day was to send every thing there to build up a
defensive task force.
No sooner did Enterprise and Seleya show up and I spotted two Cardassian
cruisers with in 15 light years of the station. Very bad indeed. So I
sent Enterprise and Seleya out to bag the Cardassians.
The next move opened up with an awesome firefight. both Cardassians
fired upon Seleya and damaged her warp engines, but amazingly she still
was in fighting condition. Seleya returned fire emptying everything she
had into the Cardassian cruisers. Both exploded, and were sent to the
undiscovered country.
Since Seleya was badly damaged I decided to turn her around, and send
her at full impulse towards Deep Space 9, and sent Enterprise on to
intercept a just picked up pair of Cardassians attempting to act as
backup for the
two dead ships. Unfortunately, for this pair Defiant was just coming
into sensor range of Enterprise and Defiant was sent as cloaked backup
in to Cardassian space.
Mean while Monarchy and Sovereign were coming in to Deep Space 9's
range, and were basically in position for future tactical engagements
against the Klingons and Romulans.
Next move opens up with two Cardassians in range of Defiant's weapons. I
can just imagine Sisko saying, Drop cloak, slow to half impulse, ready
phasers, quantum torpedoes on standby.
Anyway, I did just that. I fired 50% of phaser power into
eachCardassian, and basically split my photon torpedoes and quantum
torpedoes between the two ships, and both ended in a huge explosion. Say
goodbye to Gul Ducat and friends.
As might happen the Klingons decided to get in on the act. The I.K.S.
Drovna drops cloak and takes a shot at the Sovereign. Suddenly, with
Sovereign's torpedo launchers off line I decide I have to use Deep Space
9's weapons to vaperise the Drovna. A move later Drovna is space dust.
Defiant is called back to DS9 while Enterprise is sent on to finish off
the Trager. Well, this is where things start to get interesting.
About this time the I.R.W. Terix swings down from around bearing 015
decloaks off Deep Space 9 and lands a really good shot into the station.
Deep Space 9's shields go down. Ouch, that was a good shot, but not good
enough.
Deep Space 9 opens fire blasting the Terix apart with a massive wave of
phaser and quantum torpedo fire. I actually used to many quantum
torpedoes, over kill, but I wanted to make sure he was good and dead.
Seleya's warp drive comes back on line, and a move later docks with the
station. Good thing as Sovereign is still out of action and Defiant is
right on the way just a couple of light years out.
As you might guess while I am docking and restocking the main fleet
Enterprise intercepts Trager, and whipes him out. That solves the
cardassian problem. All Cardassian ships are out of action. Now, we just
have the Klingons and Romulans to deal with.
Well, fortunately for me I am given enough time to restock defiant,
Seleya, and Monarchy, and then send them directly for Klingon space.
This is were the battle gets really cool. What transpires is a major
conflict against the Romulans, Klingons, and Federation all about the
same time.
I no sooner travel about 15 light years with my three ship fleet when
Bortas and Tohkat decloak and open fire on the fleet. Monarchy loses her
warp engines, and Seleya loses phasers. Not good, but both ships can
retaliate. After all, this is a three on two fight. The out come is
pretty much predetermined.
As expected I returned fire using Monarchy and Seleya. First, the Bortas
and the Tohkat, explode, fireball, and then vanish in to space dust. Two
more ships sent to the Undiscovered Country, and the place where all bad
Klingon boys and girls go. (Smile)
Well, with monarchy's warp engines off line Defiant has to stay behind
and guard her. I send Seleya on to Deep Space 9 to reenforce the station
and get repairs.
Not more than a move or so later Commander Sela aboard her flagship,
Goraxus, opens fire on Monarchy knocking her shields off line. Man, that
ship can take a licking, and keep on ticking.
Monarchy still in somewhat fighting condition recharged phasers, and
unloaded all her weapons into the Goraxus. Say goodbye to Sela and
friends. The Goraxus detonates, and like the two Klingons before her
went strait to the fire pits of

I may have it laying around on a dvd back up somewhere. I'm not sure if
it's the broken or the fixed one however. I may even have a walk through
for it, although I know the walk through is located at www.ifarchive.org
 if memory serves.
