Re: [Audyssey] Force Feedback: RE: Quick USA Games Survey.

2008-05-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
Sure can. Many force feedback controllers will allow you to reverse the
direction of the motor to act as a counter force thus making them hard
to steer or simulate hitting something. The only thing is if you try and
move the controller against the motor you can break your controller
forcing the issue. So it isn't always desirable to apply to much counter
force on your controllers motor.

Re: [Audyssey] Force Feedback: RE: Quick USA Games Survey.

2008-05-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Bryan,
Well, interesting enough you probably don't know this but those arcade
driving machines are basically big commercial joysticks specially built
for game x. The entire machine might have force feedback ability
allowing you to feel the boat, car, or bike to vibrate as you drive it.
For example, Disney world has this really cool ride that looks like the
car from Back To the Future. you get in it and it looks and feels like
you are driving it. However, under the surface it is just a computer
built into a very big joystick that you can climb into. A video game
machine. Grin.

Re: [Audyssey] final fight arcade emulation

2008-05-17 Thread Liam Erven
mame = multiple arcade machine emulator. it esentially emulates the boards
and chips in old arcade machines.
so you're literally running a machine complete with book keeping and all.
It also emulates dip switches which let you set options like difficulty,
free play, etc etc.
Of course, one thing to remember. As with all emulators, owning any rom is
illegal unless you own the arcade game or in this case arcade machine.
however, if you actually owned the board itself that might be ok. But I
think legally you'd have to own the whole machine. I'm no lawyer so I'm not
aware of how that works. At any rate, I'm certainly not about to go posting
links to sites or roms themselves. That would just be wrong, and would go
against the list guidelines.

Of course. But aren't arcades expensive? Not to mention hard to find? I'd
love to own one of those kapkum boards- street fighter, etc. I've never used
an arcade. I'd really like to see a driving one, I hear you actually get to

If you can give me the site to that rom or just send it to me, that'd be
great. Also, if you could give me the button config that'd be great too.

Oh, so I'm guessing that would be like a bunch of graphics and such when you
load up a computer game (monster truck madness, anyone?) But hold on there.
I used to have window bridge and oddly enough, it read out all the courses
and trucks! Too bad jaws doesn't do that. I wonder how NVDA would work with
that? Probably not very well.

I have the mk roms, and I've not found a way to do that yet.
Also, is there a mame version that works with vista yet?

Re: [Audyssey] SoundRTS Tutorial Chapter 3

2008-05-17 Thread Shadow Dragon
Its actually better to not split up your troops. For example. Get a barracks
up as quickly as possible, and set the rally point to b2. This way any enemy
that tries to move into your base will encounter your troops, there's no way
around besides through that path. Then fill up on units till you've used all
your food. This should work, if you lose any units make sure you have your
peasants constantly working so you can create more.

 Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to beat Tutorial Chapter
3 of SoundRTS? I think I've tried just about everything but the enemy
always manages to destroy everything. I made a barracks at A1, put an
archer at C2 to patrol the bridge, and positioned my footmen at
different points, including one at A2, but still lose.
Thanks.

mame = multiple arcade machine emulator. it esentially emulates the
 boards
and chips in old arcade machines.
so you're literally running a machine complete with book keeping and all.
It also emulates dip switches which let you set options like difficulty,
 free play, etc etc.
Of course, one thing to remember. As with all emulators, owning any rom
 is
illegal unless you own the arcade game or in this case arcade machine.
however, if you actually owned the board itself that might be ok. But I

I find the impossible difficulty quite easy. much easier than hard in
fact.
It would rock if it had more levels or if it could be completed. now
 that's
what I'd call a challenge. I'm sure we'd all appreciate it if you could
 fix
the cheating problem too. cheaters get on my last nerve. The game should
also contain more levels and the boss should also be a lot harder. Also I
have a neat idea for a trophy. I can post it here or send it off list if
 you
 want.

ok. so I've recently picked up the jd source code and I've wanted to
 make
some changes and enhancements. Of course ifyou've never played judgment
day, it would be a grand idea to head over to www.l-works.net and give
 it
 a try.

 1. What features do you like most about judgment day.
 2. on the flip side, what features do you like the least in judgment
 day.
 3. if you could add any feature big or small. What would it be and why.
 4. what are your views on the demo. is it too short, is it too easy,
 does
it need more things in it? or is it fine just the way it is.
 5. There is no number 5

any comments are apreciated, and it's my plan to release a patch
 hopefully
by the end of next week with some updates. And hopefully with in a few
months I'll be giving the game a complete overhall.

[Audyssey] Very close baseball game.

2008-05-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi everyone,
I think this has been the closest game I have played in ages. needless
to say I was on the edge of my seat wondering who would win this one.
After the Pirates major defeat last time I think they got their act
together and really played for keeps this game. Only problem with their
plan was i did some serious butt kicking at the bottom of the ninth
inning. I made one home run and left the bases loaded. If I would have
had a chanse i could have, well, gave them a pounding instead of winning
by a single home run. Here is the stats.

Championship Baseball, version 4, By Jim Kitchen.
this is game 5 the Pirates verses the Indians.
the series is tied 2 games each.

in the Pirates half of the first inning, the Pirates scored, No
runs on, No hits, there were 2 strike outs and there were no
runners left on base.

runners left on base.

in the Pirates half of the third inning, the Pirates scored, No
runs on, No hits, and there were no runners left on base.

in the Indians half of the third inning, the Indians scored, 1 run
on, 2 hits, there was 1 home run! 1 double there were 2 strike outs
and there was 1 runner left on base.

in the Pirates half of the fourth inning, the Pirates scored, 1 run
on, 2 hits, there was 1 triple there was 1 hit batter, there were
2 strike outs and two runners were left on base.

in the Indians half of the fourth inning, the Indians scored, No
runs on, No hits, there was 1 strike out and there were no runners

Re: [Audyssey] street fighter IV was Re: final fight arcadeemulation

2008-05-17 Thread chou.clement
Just like any other arcade machine... that is you have a cabinet type thing,
and you have a joystick, and about six or so buttons. And your start button,
etc. On the side you have a slot for inserting coins. But that really
depends on the arcade machine. This is just a general description.

ever actually seen a physical one. How do fighting ones work? Just
 curious.

Of course. But aren't arcades expensive? Not to mention hard to find?
 I'd
love to own one of those kapkum boards- street fighter, etc. I've never
 used
an arcade. I'd really like to see a driving one, I hear you actually get
 to
use a steering wheel and clutch petal. cool!

mame = multiple arcade machine emulator. it esentially emulates the
 boards
and chips in old arcade machines.
so you're literally running a machine complete with book keeping and
 all.
It also emulates dip switches which let you set options like
 difficulty,
 free play, etc etc.
Of course, one thing to remember. As with all emulators, owning any
 rom
 is
illegal unless you own the arcade game or in this case arcade machine.
however, if you actually owned the board itself that might be ok. But
 I
think legally you'd have to own the whole machine. I'm no lawyer so
 I'm
 not
aware of how that works. At any rate, I'm certainly not about to go
 posting
links to sites or roms themselves. That would just be wrong, and would
 go
 against the list guidelines.

2008-05-17 Thread jeh
Hi,
How much ram do you need to run a big game in mame32? I only have 512mb and
last time I checked, some or most games wouldn't play and the sound kept
being really choppy. I only have 512mb on here.
