  Hi Ian,
There is no password associated with the zip, very weird there that you
got that. There may be a field in winZip for a password, but none is
required. Be absolutely sure you read the read me file included with the
zip, it includes very important instructions for updating from a previous

yeah I have had that issue.
Something is screwed.
So if you have nothing to lose just reformat and everything will be ok,

I can't just do that now because of stupid system setup being a visual mess.

 Hi Damien,
I guess in order for us to solve your Sapi 5 issues I think it might be
helpful, and try to find out how it got broke in the first place. For
example, when I was trouble shooting Sapi 5 issues for Montezuma's
Revenge I discovered if you install some speech demos, some third-party
Sapi voices, and later remove them all of your Sapi 5 voices may stop
 working properly.
In one case in point one of my customers installed some of the Cepstral
voices, and when Cepstral upgraded to the latest Swift engine, he
removed his older versions, and tried updating to the new voices. For
whatever reason all of his Sapi voices stopped working. In the end I
only solved his problem by talking him through a Sapi 5 reinstall from
 the Win XP recovery cd.
As it happens it is events like that which has made me personally decide
to drop Sapi 5 support in the next release of the game now known as
Mysteries of the Ancients. My job is game technical support, not MS Sapi
support, but you know how some customers are. If their machine is busted
they want it fixed pronto so they can play the game they baught, and if
their machine is broken they blame my game for their troubles rather
 than their cranky computer. Grin.
Anyway, if you can help us out by telling us what you installed
recently, if you have added any new Sapi voices recently, etc it would
 help out a bunch.
 Cheers.

 Hi Jim,
I have tried going to the control panel, and not even the Microsoft voices
work. I tried the deluserlex program, that didn't do anything. As for my
Windows XP CD, I lost that ages ago.
I tried the sapisvr.exe program as I was writing this email, and that didn't
work either. There seems to be a critical error with it, since when I select
a voice, or preview a selected one in the control panel, it comes up with
 the following error:
 Speech Properties
This voice cannot be played. Please try selecting another voice or
 selecting a different
 audio output device.
 OK
This happens with every voice I select, including Microsoft Sam, and I know
for a fact that it's not my sound card, since screenreader speech and sound
 effects play fine.
 Thanks.

Yes and no. Are you aware Microsoft stopped selling Windows XP in June 2008?
What that means if Damien wants to get a copy of XP it will likely have
to come off of Ebay, find it in a store that isn't all sould out, or
grab the disk off of a piracy site that has cracked versions of XP.
Unfortunately, losing a XP recovery cd at this point is very bad news
since XP is getting harder to find, and there are a lot of people that
can't exactly upgrade to Vista do to financial and hardware reasons.

Re: [Audyssey] NVDA and Mudding

2008-08-09 Thread Ryan Smith
Hi,
Well in order for the client to read the incoming text, you need an
NVDA API. Then it would be as simple as reading a string. The program
will use the API can manually give it text to read (what VIP MUD
does). I will look into the NVDA API for RMud. All clients basically
are are text boxes that are updated every time new data comes in, and
it updates the text box. You mentioned MonkeyTerm, but never said if
NVDA reads it, does it?
Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Sapi problems was Puppy1

2008-08-09 Thread Damien Sadler
Hi Thomas,
Yeah, it was uninstalling Cepstral that caused mine to break. The only one
that worked after that were the Microsoft voices, and so I tried the
deluserlex program to try and fix my Scansoft Daniel, but once I ran that,
not even the Microsoft voices worked.

 Hi Damien,
I guess in order for us to solve your Sapi 5 issues I think it might be
helpful, and try to find out how it got broke in the first place. For
example, when I was trouble shooting Sapi 5 issues for Montezuma's
 Cheers.

 Damien Sadler wrote:
 Hi Jim,
I have tried going to the control panel, and not even the Microsoft
 voices
work. I tried the deluserlex program, that didn't do anything. As for my
Windows XP CD, I lost that ages ago.
I tried the sapisvr.exe program as I was writing this email, and that
 didn't
work either. There seems to be a critical error with it, since when I
 select
a voice, or preview a selected one in the control panel, it comes up with
 the following error:
 Speech Properties
This voice cannot be played. Please try selecting another voice or
 selecting a different
 audio output device.
 OK
This happens with every voice I select, including Microsoft Sam, and I
 know
for a fact that it's not my sound card, since screenreader speech and
 sound
 effects play fine.
 Thanks.
 Regards,
 Damien

You have to be much closer than six miles out to get a lock with guns, so
what I advise doing is hitting your speed brake a couple times and head
toward the enemy. That should help you get a lock before you shoot past the

Hi List.

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find
an answer in the archives. What I want to know is the way one
uses the guns in Three-D Velocity's Death Match Mode. The
documentation explains how to target with missiles, but not guns,
aand I'm interested to know how it's done.

NVDA doesn't yet have an API. You may wish to subscribe to the nvda-dev

Yes this game works in vista. I had no problem with it even when it came out

Make sure, that if you got version 1.0 of the retail version that you apply
all patches, and also install the June 2008 9.0C full and dot net 1.1 for
everything to work. I found out the hard way that if you do not install all
the patches from his site. if you have only V1.0 and try just to install
1.53 from 1.0. It will error out because there will be files missing.

Re: [Audyssey] NVDA and Mudding

2008-08-09 Thread Ryan Smith
Hi,
When I do come out with RMUD, I do hope What you can do in RMUD is
disable the incoming text box, and use a message box instead. Then you
press space for okay, send your data, and so on. NVDA will read the
message box. I know this can be a bit of a nuisance, however RMUD will
also have complete SAPI support. When and If NVDA comes out with an
API, I will surely add it. Whether I will open it up to all moo's is
questionable, it is custom developed for this specific MOO..few
feature's wouldn't work without this moo.

Thanks.

 Hello folks,

After 2,5 years of absolute silence, we have planned to release Top Speed
2.1 at the beginning of September. With 2 new cars, 5 new tracks, a new
exciting surface type, a heavily changed menu and more we don't talk
 about
at the moment, we hope you will enjoy playing Top Speed as never before.
Also, there are lots of bugs fixed. But before the release, we need your
 help.

Since it's hard to create cars for Top Speed that are realistic and high
quality, there are only 2 cars added. That's not enough, so it's your
 turn
to build a realistic and qualitative car. Send your car in a zip-file
 with
a good name and description to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The best car
we received before the first of September will be integrated in the game.

 Happy building!

At this point NVDA doesn't have good support for any mud clients out of

If I wasn't so blasted busy all the time i could probably write some

unfortunately I do not have the time. I think instead of everyone trying

I'd really love it if you did make it work with other muds. It sounds like
it'd be a way to get an accessible client without having to go find the
client, then the scripts and things you generally need in order to make the
client accessible. VipMud is brilliant but other options is always good.

 Hello folks,

After 2,5 years of absolute silence, we have planned to release Top
 Speed
2.1 at the beginning of September. With 2 new cars, 5 new tracks, a new
exciting surface type, a heavily changed menu and more we don't talk
 about
at the moment, we hope you will enjoy playing Top Speed as never before.
Also, there are lots of bugs fixed. But before the release, we need your
 help.

Since it's hard to create cars for Top Speed that are realistic and high
quality, there are only 2 cars added. That's not enough, so it's your
 turn
to build a realistic and qualitative car. Send your car in a zip-file
 with
a good name and description to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The best
 car
we received before the first of September will be integrated in the
 game.

 Happy building!
 Leonard de Ruijter
