Hi

I deleted three lines from the start.pl file that contained
the nomouse element, saved the file and then the game would
load.

I'm glad I copied the file first, lol.

[Audyssey] audio quake Questions

2008-03-26 Thread Darren H
Hi gamers

I have a question regarding Audio Quake, which I'm starting to get to grips
with ok now.

Is there any way of...

1. Enabling the mouse for more fluid movement.

2. enabling the look up and look down functionality as obtaining some of the
items in single player require you to shoot or find things above your head.
Also, some of the monsters are on higher ledges and can pick you off easily if
you're not able to look up and fire back at them.

also, it would be handy in deathmatch mode to be on a high shooting position
and look down to pick off your mates.

3. some of the secrets in the levels require you to shoot a red disc, or some
other simlar instruction...any way around this without wasting ammo?

I think that'll do for now.

Oh, one more thing.

Enabling the swim up and swim down function.

Cheers
Darren

Re: [Audyssey] blind people and punctuation was Re: thanks a lot.

2008-03-24 Thread Darren H
It's not a question of education.

It's a question of laziness and not being bothered.

I wouldn't think twice about helping someone, regardless of
spelling, but I'm not going to help them if I can't
understand what they're asking.

Makes no odds to me, type it correctly and get your
questions answered, or type it sloppily and stand the chance
of folks not answering you because they don't really
understand what you're asking.

Cheers

 Hi Ian,

I would suggest you take a deep breath, calm down and
 learn to write
with punctuation before you send your next message. It
 is quite possible
that it will be readable after all.

 Thanks a lot.

Charles

I couldn't agree more.

the amount of e-mails I get from day to day with poor
spelling and sloppy typing is incredible, it takes twice the
time to read because you have to work out what the person is
trying to say.

And this is coming from me, a selfconfessed awful speller,
honestly, my spelling is pretty poor.

Re: [Audyssey] blind people and punctuation was Re: thanks a lot.

2008-03-24 Thread Darren H
The reason is likely to do with how screen reader like jaws
process text.

with correct punctuation, it's far easier to get the sense
of what someone is saying.

it's also a good habit to get into in case you need to write
a formal letter.

for example. i work in tech support. Most of my
correspondence are via e-mail.

Imagine what would happen if I didn't use correct
punctuation?

chances are, if you don't write correctly in e-mail groups
or discussion forums, it'll bleed over to your more formal
correspondence, which is a bad reflection on the individual.

Just my view and should be taken as such.

Re: [Audyssey] About List Behaviour - Was What's Ahead For MOTA Beta 2.

2008-03-22 Thread Darren H
Hi all

i've been watching this thread and others with Interest and
won't comment any further about Tom's game or what he shoul
do, that is his own business and it's his time he's giving
up, I dont' think we have any right to brow beat him into
producing a game that he doesn't want to produce.

However, I must say that some of the people coming out in
support of tom would do themselves much more credit and
increase their credibility if they stopped using fowl
language and at least spell checked their replies.

Firstly, it's just good manners. and shows maturity to write
in a well mannered and coherent way. next, it shows respect
for others.

No, this isn't about education or intelligence, it's about
respect and writing in a way that we can at least
understand.

some of the responses here I gave up trying to read simply
because it was nonsense and laced with rude, fowl language.

The people expressing the negative views have at least
remained reasonable in their responses, and, I'm sad to say,
most of the supportive people have done Tom no favours at
all by just shouting their mouths off and being abusive.

Please guys, let's at least act like reasonable, well
mannered people.

yes, of course you're allowed to express your views and
disagree with each other, but resorting to childish name
calling is simply disgusting, and does nothing for your
arguments.

If some of you had been a member of my list, you'd have been
suspended.

Cheers

Re: [Audyssey] What's Ahead For MOTA Beta 2.

2008-03-21 Thread Darren H
Hi Tom

I'm right with you on this.

You actually don't have to do this at all, so I think folks
should be bloody well thankful that there is someone willing
to give up time to complete a task.

And then, once the game is out, be prepared to be told
you're charging too much money.

I think I'd be inclined to say, sod it, go and design your
own games, my family is much more important.

Keep up teh good har dwork.

Re: [Audyssey] bowling -- the real thing

2008-03-13 Thread Darren H
Hi

1. don't take a run up, well walk up approach.

2. Take some sticky tape with you and ask someone to lay a
strip of tape so it runs about6 inches down the center of
the lane, starting at the start of the lany.

Then, at least you'll know where the exact center is and
you'll have a point of reference.

Works for me anyway.

Re: [Audyssey] re monkey Business

2008-03-08 Thread Darren H
Hi

To be honest it's ben about 5 years since I played it, but I
do remember you do ned to run and jump.

Find out how to make your character run, then right when you
hear the squelchy noise just before you enter the acid pit,
you hit the jump key while still holding down the runn key.

What those keys are, I really don't remember, it's been a
damn long time.

Cheers

Hi

Just do a google search for quake mods, the first site that
will come up is Planet quake. There's a ton of stuff there
including mods and extra levels and maps.

Incidentally, the maps work, you just put the map file in
your ID1/maps folder.

Cheers

[Audyssey] Quake Mods with Audio Quake

2008-03-06 Thread Darren H
Hi gamers

If I install regular quake mods will they work with audi quake in the same way
that the actual game will?

If so, do I install the mod in quake or Audio quake.

There are hundreds of mods that sound brilliant, but not unless they work
proeprly.

Incidentally, Jedi Quake is brilliant, challenging, but brilliant.

Cheers

[Audyssey] Jedi quake Installation Issue updated

2008-03-05 Thread Darren H
Hi gamers

An update to my earlier issue.

I've located the qmod.ini file but I had to download the .qmod as a zip.

I copied the jediquake42 folder and the qmod.ini file to the ID folder in Audio
Quake, but when I select JediQauke from the mod list and press p to play, the
regular version of audio quake is loaded.

What's going on here?

Cheers

[Audyssey] Audio quake

2008-03-03 Thread Darren H
Hi folks

I've been playing the shareware version of quake with the Audio quake engine.

Are there any sites around that describe the maps and type of monsters.

The ID Software site is pretty useless.

I'm currently bidding on a full copy of Quake on Ebay and hopefully I'll win
that.

Any other tips or tricks would really be apreciated.

Cheers
