Re: [Audyssey] Anyone ever heard of a game called CastleQuest?
No, it was definitely not titled King's Quest. In the game I remember, you began just outside the castle, and the objective was to wander through the castle, which was frikin' huge by the way, and to find the vampire and kill him, and to reach a room somewhere in the basement that would free you from the castle. It was entirely a text-based game, with only one player, and a hell of a lot of fun. - Original Message - From: Jacob Kruger jac...@mailzone.co.za To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2012 10:20 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Anyone ever heard of a game called CastleQuest? Re: [Audyssey] Anyone ever heard of a game called CastleQuest?
I have found the game on baf's guide to interactive fiction, however the only version I've found is a commadore 64 version, with no mention about a pc ms dos one. I actually suggest trying google sinse often old dos games can be found kicking around the internet, (how I found braminar), or have had independently made fan pages for them if someone liked them enough. Of course, while you could still run the game with windows xp, and might be able to under windows 7 32 bit, 64 bit windows is another story. Good luck. Ok, and while it wouldn't operate on my windows7 64 bit machine, it seemed to run alright under my windows XP VMWare virtual machine, since could hear sound effects and music playing, but, aside from that, no idea what was going on after NVDA had read intro to me, and then told me to press any key, which is when sounds started, but anyway. Re: [Audyssey] Anyone ever heard of a game called CastleQuest?
It's a dam shame castlequest went down the tubes, though given that justin describes hunter as having heavy overtones of an adventure/role playing game when it's in effect an arcade game, i'm not sure how cq would stand up to something like entombed for complexity and features, though of course given the features listed on the old site it might have been a step beyond all of bsc's other offerings. However you look at it though, it's a shame cq wasn't developed, and even more a shame that Justin has had to give up full time audio game developement. I'd really be interested to see what he could've done if bsc games had carried on with their developements all these years, even if the third party developer he was working with for cq baled at the last moment and he had to drop the project, indeed, with the move away from arcade style games, fine examples of this style though many of bsc's titles were, it would've been interesting to see what Justin could've come up with in another arena. Re: [Audyssey] Anyone ever heard of a game called CastleQuest?
Hi Phil and all, Wrong Castle Quest. There was a game from the 80's called Castle Quest, a text adventure, that was abandoned several years before Justin came along and named his game Castle Quest. So I just wanted to point out that the Castle Quest being discussed here on the list and BSC' Castle Quest are two totally different things. :D On 5/21/2012 7:57 AM, Phil Vlasak wrote: Hi Folks, It was an abandoned game because the programmer that BSC hired decided to stop development.
