[Audyssey] changes to the sarah game
HI phil Could you find the problem that I'm having that when sarah has 4 patronous charms left, she can't use them? This can't be because peeves steals my wand because it doesn't happen with the other spells, only with the patronous charms. If my wand is nicked, then no spells would have worked, isn't it? How did you fix it if you came across the problem? If you couldn't find such a bug, what is wrong on my side. I'm using a 1.7 gikg processor, windows xp sp2 and a 80 gb hard drive. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] changes to the sarah game
Hi Nicol, I wanted Sarah to have to learn to use the Patronis spell. So when she first uses it the time is shorter than later on. I set up 4 variables and set the first 4 patronis spells to the first variable that would last about 20 seconds. the next 4 would last 40 seconds and the next 4 last 60 seconds. After the first 12 spells, all the rest would last 80 seconds. When you used a spell I would deduct 1 from the first variable unless it was 0, or if it was 0 I would check the next variable. I do not know why I did it this way but in looking at the code I realized I could just add a variable to count how many spells were used then vary the time based on that number. I was able to remove about 20 lines of code from each level which helps to make the levels load quicker. As I re-wrote the function I did not try to track down the bug but after the change the bug was gone. Re: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game
Hi Tom, I do not describe the Patronus in the game but in the instructions. The ghosts and creatures are not stupid, well at least most of them aren't, so they will flee from you when they see the Pink Flamingo that you conjured or hear the Patronus Charm sound. I have also described the headless hats as Pink Flamingos and will have a Flamingo bird call to indicate where they are in the next patch. phil - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2007 6:16 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game Hi Phil, Oh, I see. yeah, the concept of using the sword to destroy things around the castle would be rather cool. Re: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game
Hi Phil. Will my old registration codes etc work for the full install? While I will probably patch the version of Sarah I've got on my desktop, I do like to keep a saved copy of the actual game installer for backup purposes just in case my computer explodes and I have to re-enstall everything. should that happen, as thom says, it'd be much quicker installing one new version than my old original copy of the set up file and patching it again. Hi, I see. I wonder if one of those things is pulling the sword out of the sorting hat. That was of course one of the cooler moves in Deathly Hallows. I don't think the Death Eaters saw that one coming. I don't want to spoil seven for those who have not read it, but perhaps you have added it's special ability of destroying certain undesirable objects? [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game
Hi Folks, This is a short note to keep you up to date on the changes to the FPS Sarah game. Yes I change the description from Arcade to FPS in the instructions! I thought it would take a month to make changes due to the seventh Harry Potter book but real life and reading the book three times delayed my work on the game. I will listthe major changes below: 1. Sound effects now describe the common objects in the game such as the hats, candy and brooms rather than words. 2. I changed the Hufflepuff common room door and common room to match what the Author described in one of her interviews. 3. I also change the Ravenclaw common room based on what was in the seventh book. 4. Added the boys dormitory to the Gryffindore common room. 5. Added two new spells to your spell list. A Disillusionment Charm that hides you like a chameleon. And a spell that Reveals human presence on a floor. This will allow you to tell exactly how far Filch is away from you. 6. Added two new fortune telling features to the Divination classroom. A crystal ball which works a lot like the magic eight ball toy, and a tea leaf reading system. 7. An extensive walk through document to help you solve the puzzles in the game. 8. Of course, I have fixed most if not all of the bugs and there are many minor changes and surprises throughout the game. I will be sending Sarah the script soon so she can record these changes and as soon as she gets the recording back to me I will add them to the game and then make a patch with the changes so you will not have to download the entire game again. Re: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game
Hi Ian, I will update the full Sarah install only after the patch has been out a while. This way if I missed anything it is a lot easier to update the patch than re-do the entire game. It takes a lot longer to up load a file than download one. I will let the list know when the patch is ready and then when the updated full download is ready.
Hi Phil, I hate to ask, but how much time will you wait between the time the patch is released and the full install is released. Since I am on high speed internet I tend to grab the full installs so I don't have to go around patching a game everytime I have to do a system recovery. By the way, I am interested to know which sword is in the Head Master's office. Is it the fake which was made, or is it the real sword? --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game
Hi Tom, Even at high speed it takes me a whole day to create the full version and get it on line. I figure a week between the patch for people to find any bugs or problems then I will make any changes if necessary and upload a new patch and a new full install. Of course I am testing any changes but you never know what people will try. The sword in the headmaster's office is the real thing since the fake was made after the time the game is set. Since I read the last Harry Potter book, I have added a few more things for the sword to do.
