Hi.
I'm just wondering exactly what games are available and whether any are
actually worth playing in comparison to things like brouser games that are
obviously far easier to access.
I once heard of a bbs service called I believe the gameszone, which i
connected to with telnet, however when I looked at their games on offer, the
most interesting and unique seemed to be inaccessible graphic adventures
(the screen was readable but the map and view of rooms and objects were all
graphics).
There were a couple of games, one I believe called arena of the ancients,
but basically they looked like a poor man's legend of the green dragon
(expected sinse legend of the red dragon that logd was based on was
originally a bbs game), and therefore not really up to what could be done
elsewhere.
Brief descriptions, single hit dice combat, and very repetitive gameplay of
the kill 30 monsters then kill your master to level type variety, indeed
with all it's modern modules and expantions Logd had far more too offer.
Other games seemed to be blackjack, poker etc, but once again, why use
telnet versions?
Of course I didn't check out every single game, just a sample of those that
looked interesting to me, and I might have missed a classic or two, but if I
am! going to take the trouble to use telnet I'd like to know if it's worth
my while to do so.
So, what games are available on this connection? are there any particularly
good ones that it'd be worth time playing?
Beware the grue!
Dark.
