I'm sure they'll approve Captain D when it comes out. He's developing it for

I can tell you for sure that the indi games from xbla go on under that
category. They lump them in with the same games we get on ps3. I don't know
about size and whatnot, but they're all put in the same place for the same
price range. It's just basically a more of the same... indi games go in the
same place as Shank, Invincible tiger, SSF 2 turbo hd, etc. At least from
what I remember. Someone with more knowledge of it could look it up... or
when you get your 360 you could tell us. :P

Hi. Is there anyone who'd like to see audio games for Microsoft's XBOX? Reply

2012-02-23 Thread Yohandy
I think the answer to that question is obvious. we'd love games for any next
gen platform. however I don't have high hopes for this. I'm sure Microsoft
won't make this thing free of charge. their development kits costs are
probably in the thousands of dollars range, and I doubt anyone here has that
kind of money. let's be realistic guys. if you're planning to ship games on
cd, that's a few more thousand bucks to have the cds pressed and duplicated.
not to mention game development itself. even more thousands of dollars to
hire voice actors, programmers etc. I'm sorry to say that this will never
happen. unless you try something like kickstarter and people donate. now
that's an idea...

Re: [Audyssey] Games for XBOX?

2012-02-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Ben,

Microsoft's licenses for the XBox aren't as restrictive as other
consoles. The XNA Framework/XNA Studio for .NET was specifically
designed to make it possible for amateurs to create their own games
for the XBox. That said I recall you have to physically copy and
install the games to the XBox rather than run them from a DVD.

Cheers!

kind of money. let's be realistic guys. if you're planning to ship games on
cd, that's a few more thousand bucks to have the cds pressed and duplicated.
not to mention game development itself. even more thousands of dollars to
hire voice actors, programmers etc. I'm sorry to say that this will never

As much as I want to be optomistic and say yes, I can't help but agree with
Yohandy on some points. It seems to me that while the XNA is designed for
amateurs and budding game developers, they're still companies... it isn't
cheap to hire voice actors and all that, and xbox360 games would generally
be downloaded instead of using dvds, mostly because the games are small
enough not to need them, it's easier just to put them up on the marketplace.
But I'd be interested to see what comes of this, for sure. And Yohandy,
while I agree, I also think you're being a bit pecemistic. lol

Re: [Audyssey] Games for XBOX?

2012-02-23 Thread Dakotah Rickard
The trouble I keep running into, and yes I know I've said this before,
is that there are literally thousands of voice actors out there who'd
love to do something for cheap or free.

All they'd probably want is a good review and a reference, because
voice acting is hard to get into on a pro level.

Some of you may have heard of Darker Projects or Broken Sea. What
about requesting that they see if anyone's willing to do voice stuff.
Most of those folks have good recording setups, so it just seems
silly, no offense meant, that people keep complaining about the source
of good voice actors.

I mean look at the response to Jeremy looking for voices for Swamp.
The only reason my wife and I haven't submitted several is that we
don't have that good recording setup, and it's hard to record voices
with a bunch of kids running around. Even so, and this is without
looking at the deadline for submissions, we still would like to do
that.

It's not really my place to say this, but given the fact that we do
have such good resources if we look for them, I really hope nobody
says anything about voice actors again, except maybe, hey, we're
looking for talent.

I hope this finds all of you well, and I hope that the XBox game, the
original topic, gets a solid green light. I'd love to play a game on
the console that is developed with we blinks in mind.

Dakotah Rickard
