Re: [Audyssey] Just finished a game of King of dragon pass
THere’s nothing to find out, I’m afraid. It’s totally inaccessible, and in any case the iOS version has been improved so much that it’s definitely the recommended version, even by the author himself. He’s said publicly that if iPhones had existed in 1999, he would have made the game for them from the start, or words to that effect. The iOS version has also been improved with fifteen new scenes, on top of the thirty or more that were added in previous updates. So yeah, more events, more balance, and fewer bugs. iOS all the way. [Audyssey] Just finished a game of King of dragon pass
I stuck King of dragon pass on on Wednesday night to see what the new updates were like, and then I couldn't stop playing and quite literally have been doing so for the last two days (dam that game is hard to put down!). The only slightly disappointing thing is I actually lost the game due to heroquests. With the way the new lore page is laid out every myth has a details link next to it. When however I got the details of a couple of myths, like the earth mother feeds the tribe, or the cow goddess's blessing (I won't attempt to spell there names), the details changed to secrets so I assumed that was how the quests were labeled. Unfortunately it turns out I was wrong. Lots of the other quests like the Healing goddess heals the scars don't have a secrets tag, they still read details even when I had the details of the myth. So I kept trying the Cow goddess's quest, failed three times and hus failed the short game! gr! I also confess I did cheat a little, by consulting the Kodp wiki on each quest to actually make sure what I was choosing were the best options, sinse one really irritating thing about attempting heroquests for the first time is that it's actually possible to choose the right option (ie the one from the myth), and still have the action fail, meaning often it seems you've done something wrong when actually you took the right action. I suppose I could restore to the point my tribe was formed, but that seems a bit too much like cheating, plus I'd rather try the thing myself again, particularly sinse I've now decided playing a thrawl taking clan is significantly more problematic than not, and also that it really! seems battle blessings are essential to winning any kind of battle at all early in the game. Re: [Audyssey] Just finished a game of King of dragon pass
Hey Dark, Yep dragon pass is really addicting, think i should start a new game too. The first blessings i try to get are those from the war god humakth and I always try to get a humakti on the ring. But then again i am also always a war clan, never tried peace or balanced for a prolonged time. I must admit that i often cheat if hqs go wrong, that really has a drastic impact on your clan. I should try a game the normal way. I have tried the HARD game a few times now but that is REALLY hard. And playing it for a long time, the first time i played kodp i played it once for 12 hrs on end. I think their game engine is available for purchase, would be cool to see more games like this. Sorry dropped my keyboard and the message got sent by mistake :D. As I said, I don't tend to like restoring sinse not only do you have to play through the hole year again (quite a pain if you've failed a heroquest in storm season), but also I actually like the story element of this being a real clan where things can go wrong as well as right. Hi, If i ever go into roleplaying I will certainly play a vinga worshipping badass woman. I am gong to try balanced next, that might be a bit of a challenge, i mostly start worshipping elmal because its a bit different then normal orlanthi, i do long games but at normal difficulty. I tend to get huge tracts of land but might now try with a bit less because you quickly tend to overgrow the comfortable clansize this way. Re: [Audyssey] Just finished a game of King of dragon pass
I've not tried a game where I didn't worship Orlanth, then again i've only played a few games seriously, ie, long enough to form a tribe. I usually start with the slightly more land option so that my clan has room to expand, but not so much it's easy for nasty neighbors to come and grab it. One thing the manual says is absolutely true, you can't win by slaughtering everyone sinse the object is to make peace. I therefore tend to try to resolve feuds as much as possible and make allies, but leave a couple of feuds going with especially hated rivals so that my weaponthanes have something to sharpen their swords on. Btw if you play a war clan what do you tend to find in terms of combat are the best tactics to go for? There is a table on the wiki but I didn't particularly get the point. I tend to find sacrificing before battle is pretty useless, charging works better when you outnumber the enemy, when things are roughly equal skirmish is best when attacking and maneuvers when defending, accept against horse spawn, and evade is best when your outnumbered. AlsoI'm not sure on the raid objectives, taking captives seems best when you outnumber the enemy but not to work otherwise, and survival is best when your outnumbered. When things are roughly equal drive them off or plunder works, I'm not really sure on burn homesteads or kill as many as possible objectives sinse I don't tend to use those much, after all they're pretty scummy ways to fight :D. Re: [Audyssey] Just finished a game of King of dragon pass
If anyone could find out if it is, I'd be willing to try it. I wonder if its accessible for PC too? I do know what you mean about addictive, I really! find the game hard to put down once I start, indeed I only started because I wanted a look at the new updaes, then couldn't stop. I'd definitely suggest you give it a try, sinse there are a bunch of new scenes that have been added, some of them really interesting ones. You'll guarantee to see them as well sinse the developers made the new scenes more likely to turn up if your starting the new scenes more likely to appear if your upgrading from the old version. Humact is great and usually I always start with a temple to him. Indeed in my first game my tribal kin was a just plane awsome Humacti with leadership and combat both at renowned who also managed to complete two heroquests, fail at the humact quest but come back from limbo worshipping Orlanth. I also confess I have a soft spot for Humact sinse a good friend of mine does Live action roleplay in a system that uses the same pantheon of gods, and would always play humacti warriors, she's now a blackbelt in Karate and doing krav magar, so it's sort of appropriate for her :D. That being said, in the game I just finished my Humacti managed to get himself killed when off exploring and was replaced by a hard as nales lady who worshipped Venga and had renowned combat (which got to be heroic later on. I actually always wish I could build a full two blessing shrine to Venga, sinse both of her blessings are awsome. I personally prefer balanced to war, sinse when I tried a war clan I was really struggling with both trade and keeping my herds and crops going. This is why i tend to be a bbalanced clan player myself.
