Hi,
Hmm... I think the bugs were fixable, but more and like Jason was unable
to figure out how to solve them or XL Studios went out of business
before he had the time to solve them.

The part walking through a door where a wall once was isn't a bug. It's a
feature in the game. In level 10 whether you manage to complete the upper
floor with the holes in it or you try to teleport you have to find room 70
and then walk to your right. I find holding down the right arrow while you
are in room 70 will move your character quickly. Because you have a minute
to find the door but if you hold down your right arrow key you will manage
to walk to the door in a few seconds. If you get to room 100 on the upper
floor in level 10 you have to press a button in room1 before finding room70.

basically, something to do with the lord urchin battle, something about the
coordination, couldn't get rid of the other room to make the battlefield or
somethin' similar. something about you could just walk through back to the
room of level 10, through what's meant to be a wall.

HI ari
The only bug I came across in the game:
If you die in the urchin lord battle, and you are back in the grid the
urchin lord battle's music continues playing although you are backg
fighting normal urchins in the grid. Also, as you move about in the grid
you will hear the step soundas if you are on the battle field although
you are in reality back in the grid. Your moves doesn't count down. If
you try to pause the game you will get an error message and if you
press enter on the message the game terminates.
Another bug: when you select urchin tracker from your device and you
press enter without specifying an urchin number you will also get an
error message and the program terminates once you press enter.
The same happens if you buy any item from the store and you press enter
without specifying how much you want to buy.
These bugs doesn't really cause a problem for me personally to play the
game. Once I reach level 10 I save the game, so when I die in the urchin
lord battle and this bug occurs, I just quit with shift+del and start
the game again and load the game at the start of level 10. hth

I was doing some research on the game Self Destruct. Is everyone aware that
it is abondonware because of an unresolvable bug? I just wanted to let

Re: [Audyssey] Unlocking self-destruct

2006-12-03 Thread Dark
In the latest Issue of Audeasy, Robin 20 was kind enough to post a link to
his server where he's uploaded the set up file for self destruct.

I'm afraid I don't have the link to hand to paste here, but if you go and
check in Audeasy issue 49 you should find it.

Beware the Grue!

Re: [Audyssey] Unlocking self-destruct

2006-12-02 Thread Dark
Well, going into program files and deleting the Xlstudio folder with
Self-destruct in it, then, deleting the start menue folder. then, I'll
delete the entry from the add/remove programs list with the C-cleaner
program (I forgot I had this program, hence my earlier remarks about leaving
wrong registry entries).

I'd much rather play the rest of the game though, so if anyone could send me
a copy keygen exe to try, that'd help.

Btw, you can get the C-cleaner program here:

How exactly are you planning on deleting the game? I can't use the
uninstaller.

Re: [Audyssey] Unlocking self-destruct

2006-12-02 Thread Tom Randall
Hi Dark.

That is strange, I was able to hit enter on the keygen link and it
worked fine, so you definitely have a problem there. The only problem I
have encountered is trying to uninstall the game, apparently the
uninstall part of the program is jacked up and does not work. Oh well I
can probably rip it out by the roots by hand if I need to. Wish I had a
suggestion for you on the key generator, the full path to mine is
"C:\Program Files\XLStudios, SI\Self Destruct\keygen.exe."

Good luck.

Hello.

thanks to Robin's kindness in the last issue of audeasy, I've now got a
copy of Self-destruct, and I do rather like the game.

the only minor problem I'm having is how to unlock it? sinse it's
abandonware, I'm guessing it's not available to buy a key anymore
(something I'd considder given the fact that I like the game).

I should guess, that the "Key generator" in it's program group is
supposed to generate a registration key, but unfortunately when i press
enter on that, I end up with a message from windows telling me "Keygen
exe" couldn't be found. I've looked in the Self-destruct folder, and
there's no sign of that file.

As people have obviously fought the urchin lord (which I don't think you
can do in the demo), I'm guessing that there is a way to unlock the
game, even though it's not for sale anymore.

any help would be much appreciated.
