Re: [Audyssey] X-Sight Interactive announces the release of X-Wheel
Hi Damien and All, This is a great game! I've only played a couple rounds, but enjoyed what I saw so registered it soon after. The only change I'd like to see is a better way of adjusting the speech rate for SAPI synthesizers. I found the fast setting to be too fast, whereas in games like those from Jim Kitchen, you can adjust the rate by going to a specific number. I think that would be better, but that's just me. Also, when the computer player won the last game I played in the demo version, JAWS didn't read out the solved puzzle, and I was wondering what it was. Other than that, I'm impressed with this product. Thanks. Hi Kelly and all, I have just released a 1.0.1 patch which fixes a few issues: The puzzle is now spoken if the puzzle is filled without it being solved, I.E. letters are guessed and vowels purchased all the way through the game until the puzzle is full. The SAPI rates are now more adjustable, from 0 to 20. The game will now interface properly with System Access and NVDA. Thanks. Excellent. I just tried out this game and I am pleasantly surprised. The documentation was good, I tried both sappi and jaws and it worked really well. While I was never a big wheel fan, I found myself strangely hooked on solving the puzzle. All in all a good job, and with taht little fix already in, I am going to buy it. Re: [Audyssey] X-Sight Interactive announces the release of X-Wheel
This game is cool and I'm really liking it. I'll probably be buying this momentarily. For now, some ideas. Firstly you forgot to include the dll needed to work with NVDA, and I believe system access, in the installer. For anyone having issues you can just put it from any other game into the xWheel directory and it will work. Also, I do think the interface could work much better. When it's your turn, I think you should just be able to press enter to spin or just hit a voul to buy it, and pressing s could let you solve, while pressing the arrow keys would let you review the puzzle, maybe even replace the blank spaces with a click sound to speed things up. Pressing tab could show the scoreboard and puzzle info. Right now, the audio form looks rather... Weird and it's just slow at times. Lastly I do think the crowd could react a little more, maybe some booing when you get a letter wrong, some cheering and things like that for getting higher values on the wheel and winning big. If you need sound help I'll gladly give a hand. Now then... off to buy this thing! On 2012-07-05 19:30, Damien C. Hi there, I uploaded a 1.0.1 patch that fixes the installer issue. I will give your other comments due consideration. Thanks. My thoughts on yours: When it's your turn, I think you should just be able to press enter to spin or just hit a voul to buy it, and pressing s could let you solve, while pressing the arrow keys would let you review the puzzle, maybe even replace the blank spaces with a click sound to speed things up. Lastly I do think the crowd could react a little more, maybe some booing when you get a letter wrong, some cheering and things like that for getting higher values on the wheel and winning big. My thoughts: More crowd enthusiasm would be OK if you make a high scoring choice, but isn't necessary. The same goes for disappointment from the crowd for bad luck. I wouldn't not want any booing, though. I think the current interface is good, because you won't accidentally make a wrong entry and be penalized. I think you should have to actually choose to buy a vowel or spin the wheel, or to solve the puzzle. I also see no need to speed things up during game play. This should not be a speed game, but a more leisurely game. --- Be positive! I really never got much into Wheel Of Fortune because the TV game was too visual. This computerized game is fun, though. It better be, because I bought it. (grin) --- Be positive!
