Hi Charles,

Yes, thank you. I forgot, I was going to mention that the default is an iron
when you choose a club above a four. In the original dos game you had to press
w or i. It may have even been that way for the first few windows versions as
well.

Notice that it is on the iron choice whenever you hit a number above 4 and
the wood choice on 1 through 4? There's your answer.

Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

2008-04-27 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Nicol,

I would recommend that you do not try to choose wood if you choose a club above
a 4 since in my game those are all irons. Only the 1, 2, 3 and 4 have both
woods and irons. One reason that it asks is because if it didn't, it would
start the indicator sound as soon as you chose something above a 4 and that
would not be consistent with the rest of the game.

BTW That is Homer Simpson that says Doh, not Bart Simpson.

Hello jim
nicol here. A question regarding the clubs in your golf game. If I choose any
club above 4 why does the game present me with the choices wood and iron?
If I press enter on wood after choosing 5 for instance, mary says: that is not
a choice and I hear bart simpson saying: dho.
This is not annoying at all. I enjoy your golf game, I was just wondering, why
if I select a club from 5 to 9 the game doesn't automatically select iron
instead of prompting me to make a choice?

Out of bounds means that you hit the ball clear off of the golf course. So

2007-02-02 Thread John Snowling
hi. you can never avoide the ponds.

the 10 yards off in the fairway is a guide to how the ball will land on the
green.

the pitching wedge will allow you to hit up to 100 yards.

if your playing the golf 9 game from a sand trap a pw or iron will get you
on the green. any older version and i use the 4 wood in a sand trap which
can get you into the hole.

Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

2007-02-01 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Nicol,

When the golf game says, shot went 300 yards. It's 200 yards from the green
and is 24 yards off line in the fairway. Off line means that it is 24 yards
left or right from center. So that would be slightly further from the green
than if you were 200 yards from the green and your shot did not veer left or
right and it said 0 yards off line.

When you hear that you are 10 yards from the hole then you have room on
the
green so if you used your pitching wedge and hit it as soon as you could
you
would at least end up on the green where you could putt the ball.

Deep ruff is thick bushes and trees.

A creek is a small channel of running water. Think about a very small
river.

Is a firehouse the place where fire brigades works? Yes.

A greenhouse is a sort of building covered either in glass or clear
plastic
where plants are grown.

A haunted house is a house that is full of ghosts and other weird stuff.

Is a horse corel the same as a horse stable? It is the area outside the
stable where the horses run.

Is a barn also like a stable? Yes.

Is a mantion a kind of house? Yes, a very big, expensive house.

At a pro shop you buy all kinds of golf items.

A swamp is a plot of land that is fulll of water, much and mire and who
knows what kind of critters.

A tavern is a bar.

Is a battling spring like a waterfall? Why is it called battling spring?
Is
it the way the water runs on the pebbles? You got it. It is gentler
than a
waterfall since it flows slowly at less of an angle than a waterfall.

A bunker
is a deep hole placed by the course designer as a trap for the ball.

Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

2006-07-19 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Mark,

The golf82c.zip file is an old dos version of my golf game from 1998. You do
not want it. You want wingolf7.exe from my free windows text to speech games
page.

So if you have the winkit.zip file on your computer all you need to do is
highlight it by pressing the space bar on it and then press the enter key. It
will open and you will be on a file named gamemenu.cap. Just press the down
arrow key once and you will be on a file named setup.exe. Press the space bar
and then the enter key. Now just follow the set up instructions. This will
create the kitchensinc folder and put it in the programs list. So then to run
my games you press the start key, p for programs and k for kitchensinc and then
enter.

Now all of the files on my free windows text to speech games page will by
default unzip to that folder and be added to the game menu program.

I hope that helps. If you are still having problems, you could give me a phone
call.

Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

2006-07-18 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Nicol,

You should not ever be able to use the 1 wood other than on your first tee
shot. You can on your second shot etc use the 2, 3 and 4 woods though, but
really should always get that message about where did you learn to play golf if
you try to use the 1 wood other than on your first shot off of the tee.

Yeah 49 golf courses is pretty cool. Allot of people made some pretty cool
courses. I will send my golf records file as soon as I set a good record on
all 49 courses.

[Audyssey] jim's golf game

2006-07-17 Thread Nicol Oosthuizen

Hi jim

I enjoy your golf game a lot. its nice to have 49 golf courses. There's
just something unclear to me: Say for instance I have 600 yards to get
the ball into the hole and I hit the ball with a 1 wood to get it off
the tee. Now its off the tee and there's still 300 yards to go. When I
try to hit it again with a 1 wood to hit it another 300 yards, I hear:
where did you learn to play golf, you don't hit a driver in a fair way.
And the ball travels about 30 yards. But this only happens sometimes.
sometimes if I hit the ball a second time with a 1 wood if there's 300
yards left, it drives the ball about 300 yards.

Why is this?

Thanks

Hi Sarah,
I think you might be going onto Jim's older golf page that was for self
voicing games.
His new version 6 is in the SAPI link.
But like he says version 7 will soon be up.

Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

2006-07-01 Thread Richard Bennett
no problem Jim, it was also something that I was doing wrong, that I figured
out acidently. I thought that they golf courses would have a number like the
amature green grass country club and others have, but they didn't. I
accidently hit the arrow down key and found the golf courses. No harm no
foul, it was found.

Did you restart the golf game? You need to exit and restart the game after
creating a new course so it will show up in the list of courses. HTH

Weird ... I made up one and it showed up in the list of courses to play
along with the other courses that were previously listed, if I remember
right. I had no idea what I was doing so it's probably not authentic, but
hey, it was my first attempt ... smile.
