7.0 of what? If you are looking for a mud client does the version number really matter? Or do you have one specific in mind? -- Raul A. Re: [Audyssey] mud cliant.
Hello there. I am also interested in different Mud Clients. I currently use Gmud and find it very good, but would like to know more about the below Client. How does it compare to the likes of Gmud? Would you have any tips for starting out with it, to make it easier to use? Thanks for any help. Kirstan Mooney. Re: [Audyssey] mud cliant.
Hello all If i have to compare gmud with JMC, i have to say JMC is way, way, way better. And you ask why? Well, i'm not an advertiser of JMC, but here are the most valuable features. First of all, it supports scripting, so you can write your own scripts. While monkey term uses VbScript, JMC supports Vb and javascript, while gmud has no scripting ability. If we're talking about scripting, JMC has scripts for jaws only, but that is not a problem. Window Eyes has an api as well, which you can use, so you can write a script which sends the mud output directly to WE. If you're not using JFW or WE, you can still write a script for SApi. If you run the program, you'll see a few menus, which contains quite uninportant information, while you're on a mud. This is because most of JMC's features are available through commands. For example, you can type .connect dentinmud.org 3000, and it will connect to alter aeon. As i mentioned before, it has so much features that i am sometimes confused what does what. It supports advanced aliases, triggers, and anything you can expect from a client. Advanced means you can do lots of stuff with them. For example, your aliasses can include parameters. Lets say you type: get something from somewhere, to get something from somewhere. You can make an alias, so you have to type get something somewhere, as it is on most merc based muds. That alias looks like get %1 from %2. Yes i know, monkey term supports parameters as well. JMC has unique features, which i never saw in mud clients. For example, it has an internal tick counter (mudders know what i'm talking about), which you can set, and then you can check the remaining time until it ticks. It can evaluate basic mathematical expressions, with the multi action ability you can get different values from a mud's output. Lets say you want to know your hp. You set up a multi action, which gets it from the prompt. Then, you make an alias which prints out that variable. Yes, it's that simple. Of course i didn't mention everything, since this mail won't go through if i do, smiles. Here is a short list, which the help file also mentions: Telnet protocol support, Full ANSI color support, Command history, Macro language, Regular expressions, Hotkeys, Profiles, Log files and RMA and HTML form, Character substitution, ActiveScripts support, command line auto-completer, and much more! In my opinion, that's why JMC is the best client. While all 3 apps are discontinued (monkey term, gmud, and JMC), JMC couldn't give you more. The features can make us ignore the few things which are in the program. For example, the different messages are not always correct, thus different grammar mistakes, but since the author is not english himself, it's totally understandable. I don't think that this is a proper review of JMC, but i was never a good reviewer, so excuse me if i left out something.
