Re: [Audyssey] the wastes

2015-08-07 Thread dark

Hi Brandon.

there should be no need to run through the command prompt, though the
wastes does use a console window and looks like a dos game, it is in fact
fully compatible with modern windows, just click on thewastes.exe in windows
explorer as you would with any program.

The ability to save option settings so you don't need to select no ascii and
set the background volume each game will be added and is on the todo list,
but hasn't been included yet.

In addition to selecting "no ascii" which you can do with number 3 for
options and then choice 5, and monkeying with the sound volume if you wish,
you could also try option 8, full screen. I found this improved the
columnization and rapping of text on my end quite a lot, though of course
it'll probably vary on different machines and Windows versions.

All the best,

Dark.

Hello,
this is only on the prompt and the prompt pops up. So just click on the
waists.exe and it will pop up. First, before anything press

3, 5
then press 3, 4, 5
That will turn down the music I believe.
To read the prompt with NVDA use object review. I use a laptop, so it is
capslock up and down arrow.

thanks,

The town scrolling thing is a known problem and will e fixed, for now

The towns will be fixed, but right now Huw the developer is working on

I have to second Dark's comments about the game. I had no problems
downloading the zip file, and it is a fun game. I wish the town
information didn't scroll so much, in larger towns, I was reduced to
guessing about where shops were as most of the buildings I could see
were shacks:)

Still, it's a lot of fun, and I was glad to see a game like this still
being developed and supported.

Re: [Audyssey] the wastes

2015-07-28 Thread dark

Hi.

sorry for the late reply, my computer got a crashing error and I've been out
of circulation sinse saturday.

As to the game, no, you can run from the exe file, no command prompt
required, or at least I've not needed one at all.
Mining will be fixed in the future, though when is anyone's guess, you can
stop mining by hitting escape.
As for scrolling the window with nvda, no idea, in supernoa I can emulate
mouse wheel movement with s and w, you could try just moving the mouse
wheel manually, sinse if you spin it down the window should scroll upwards.

Hth.

Hi.
Are you using the review keys? The keys on the num pad are bound to
review keys similar to how you review the command prompt. It works
fine without launching it from the command prompt for me.

Re: [Audyssey] The wastes

2015-07-23 Thread Shaun Everiss
I just looked at this but since its winterwolves I don't think its
accessable all their renpy stuff is custom controls and such infact I
brought a couple things only to find they didn't work, I emailed them
and they refunded my cash stating that because of customised controls
they couldn't get access to work in their stuff at the current time.

So anything by them will not be something I will even show interest in.

town system is a bit cursery at the moment), find dungeons full of creatures,
gain random mutations and generally have lots of fun.
The developer has already stuck in some access fixes, such as disabling the
ascii art in the game, and having an option to turn off all sounds if your
finding them too loud beside your screen reader. For now, just hit 3 and enter
from the main menu to get to options, then hit 4 and enter to disable ascii,
and 5 and enter to disable sounds.

There are new versions literally every single day with new stuff, whether new
encounters or types of monster or entire new regions, plus aforesaid ascii fix.

The only slight issue some people have encountered (one person who reacted
rather violently I'm afraid), is that the developer is hosting the downloads
on the mediafire file sharing service which some people have found a bit bad
for random adds and even captchas.
I've had no trouble myself, but some people have.

Installing An add blocker reputedly fixes the problem, as does copying the "download
file 71 mb" liink from the mediafire page which actually downloads the file with
right click, and opening it rather than just hitting enter.

This is unfortunately just the fault of Mediafire, and no reflection on the
quality of the game, indeed the developer has mentioned moving to another file
hosting system in the future if he can.

Enjoy! the game is awesome, especially if you liked games like fallthru and
drone, I've played for literally hours this week.

All the best,

Dark.

2015-07-18 Thread john
Dark:
I didn't see this anywhere, but you seem to know more about development than
me.
Do you know if mining's going to be fixed (right now it infinitely scrolls)?
The only way I could find to make it stop was to kill the program with ctrl
c, which really isn't what I want to do.

Hi Jeremy.

The town scrolling thing is a known problem and will e fixed, for now any
method of emulating mouse wheel movement should do, in supernova I just hit
w a few times, heck you might even be able to just use your mouse wheel
anyway.

The towns will be fixed, but right now Huw the developer is working on the
inventory and lots of fun extra objects like weapons and armour carried by
your enemies, trading resources, loot, food, plants books to read and lots
of other good stuff.

Beware the grue!

downloading the zip file, and it is a fun game. I wish the town

Still, it's a lot of fun, and I was glad to see a game like this still
