Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-28 Thread Shadow Dragon
According to Yukio, you want to change jobs at around level 45, he says lich
is the only one that gets a skill at job level 50, the max job level. I
think there may be some that gain skills after 45, like between 46 and 49
just given the skill progression with some of my jobs before level 45, the
only one that actually gained a skill on level 45 was my fighter, but I
decided to change jobs anyway and come back to them. Apparently when you
gain a character level, you automatically gain a class level as well so you
don't want to waste those since you can only go up to character level 100.
So I'd wait quite a while before changing jobs.

And I actually cheated to beat the castle dungeon, hahaha. I didn't even
unlock it until pretty late in the game, and by that point I had items that
just allowed me to float over the water so getting the chests was
ridiculously easy. Honestly unless you've gotten other things though I don't
see them as being useful, all I got was magic stones, which are just more
powerful rocks it looks like. I haven't actually tried them out though so
maybe they're better than they seem.

Knowing my luck you'll get to the battle I'm on and completely destroy it,
haha. I had no trouble with the axe beaks either time I fought them, but
that seems to be the battle everyone gets stuck on.

Hi,

well, I wanted to change my keys for translating, but I can't find the path
you talked about here anywhere. And what did you mean with in App? As far as
I know, there is no way to get somewhere from within the NVDA menu itself.
So, what is this all about?

Thanks for clarification and best regards

You have to edit the __init__ file in App
Data\roaming\NVDA\Addons\InstantTranslate\Global Plugins\InstantTranslate.
Make sure you edit the python file, not the compiled one. The keys are at
the very bottom of the file and you can change them to whatever you want.

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-27 Thread Shadow Dragon
Did you end up using windows XP or 7? I forgot to clarify that these
instructions work for 7 only, I barely remember how xp is set up at all,
much less know how and where NVDA installs it's information. What you need
to find is where NVDA installs your Add-ons and you should be able to find
the file I told you about. This should be very easy if you install them
manually, but if you just ran the Add-on package I have no idea where to
tell you to look if you're using XP.

As for the in app thing, that was actually meant to be part of the path, in
AppData/roaming/NVDA etc, I just put a space in there by accident. Sorry
about that.

You have to edit the __init__ file in App
Data\roaming\NVDA\Addons\InstantTranslate\Global
Plugins\InstantTranslate. Make sure you edit the python file, not the
compiled one. The keys are at the very bottom of the file and you can
change them to whatever you want.

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia skills questions

2013-01-27 Thread Shadow Dragon
This is very dependant on the skill being used. You have to read the skill
description carefully, it gives you the MP cost, a brief description of what
the skill does, and if you have the most recent version, 0.38, there's a
description of how the skill is targetted. For example, say you're casting
fire with your witch character. It says 4 squares after the description,
which means you can target an enemy 4 squares away. So what you need to do
is find an enemy in relation to your character using browse mode, and then
just target the skill at that enemy. Even though you won't hear the enemy
beep sound, if you just remember where it is in relation to your character,
the skill will hit. There are all different kinds of skills with different
ranges from melee to 6 squares away, some that affect the surroundings all
around you, some that affect characters adgacent to you, you just have to
read carefully and figure out what it does. Usually it's not too hard even
with translation oddness, but if you need any help figuring out a given
skill feel free to ask. I'm extremely far in the game so I doubt you'll
encounter much I haven't seen yet, and if you do I may be able to figure it
out.

Subject: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia skills questions

Hi,

so, I got a good bit further today, only have one map left in the plains
now. My characters started getting skills now, but I don't really get how
they work. When I chose a skill, I get a grid like in browse mode, but
there is nothing on it. No enemies and not my chars either. What is the
point of that? I thought that this grid would be there to target an enemy
or one of my chars, but it makes it a bit difficult when the grid is
empty. Any explanations would be helpful.

Thanks and best regards

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia skills questions

2013-01-27 Thread Shadow Dragon
They can be targetted, but they don't show up on the grid from what I've
seen. The idea is just to target a tile within range of the skill and it
will hit enemies either on that tile or surrounding tiles depending on the
skill being used. Not only that but not all skills target enemies and not
all of them can even be targetted, some of them just affect the character's
surroundings or allies, etc. there are tons of different types and affects.

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia skills questions

2013-01-27 Thread Sarah Haake

Hi,

I have version 1.37. That's unfortunate because it seems I'm missing some
infos about skills now, though the grid at least seems to show how far the
skill can go. Some skills are fairly obvious, like fire and stuff. But some
I don't even understand what they do. There is one called Exaction or
something, and another where the description refers to something like a
black cloud and blindness, I can't remember the skill name right now. And my
sniper learned shot. When I select it, I can only target the tile with the
sniper on it and press enter, but it clearly attacks the enemy. But this
seems confusing regarding the targetting system for other skills. Any
enlightenment here? *smiles*

think of your generic attack everything in range at once skill that

use this for groups of up to 5 people if you target the right place
most skills you'll get later for jeido are used the same way

Just keep one thing in mind here man, a lot of people that end up playing
these games don't actually know any japanese. Even having played the game, I
only know of one skill you mensioned below, and that's just from reference.
But on the other hand you may not translate the skill names for all I know,
so I guess it works both ways.

Anyway yeah, shot hits all enemies around you, there aren't too many skills
in the game like that. Most are either spacifically targetted or if they
affect tiles around you, it's your allies. But you can generally assume that
if you can't move the target for a skill, it only affects a range around the
character and doesn't need to be targetted. Exaction is a support spell that
increases hit rate of characters within 4 tiles of where you target the
spell.

I would definitely recommend updating to 0.38 when you have the time, he's
added descriptions of the skills' affects in terms of targetting and what
they affect.

no, I right the skill names as how they're written and pronounced by

I just find it easier that way
exaction has a range of 4 tiles, but I meant the slight area effect,
so depending on how you use it you can get it on 5 chars at once if
you surround the target area

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-24 Thread Shadow Dragon
That's good that you don't find the game too difficult. It's a lot easier
with the translation addon, it makes things like equipment management much
less overwhelming.

As for navigation, basically you can jump over anything as long as you have
two steps left and there's space to land on the other side. You can jump
over other characters if they're in the way or you want someone else in
front of them, and you can use the browse mode to see if what you're trying
to jump over is actually a path, if you hear the click sound like your
character has hit an obstacle in the browse mode, it means you generally
can't move in that direction. As of right now I can't find a way to tell
what terrain type you're on or what a given tile will do, for example, end
the map. I stumbled across a bonus cave in one of the maps completely by
accident a couple days ago and would really like to be able to tell what
tile it was on so I can try it again. I'm going to talk to someone who knows
the developer and find out if either I'm missing something, or if a feature
can be added that tells you what type of tile you're on, but as of right now
it's pretty much guess work. Tiles that end the map are usually on one side
or the other, and the victory conditions do generally give you a hint as to
wear to look, for example, if the map says aim to the east and all of your
characters start on the left, you can assume that the exit will be somewhere
on the far right, I usually just line my characters up on that side of the
map and move them in a straight line till one of them finds the exit, or I
just defeat all the enemies and that ends the map as well.

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-24 Thread Sarah Haake

Hi,

thanks for all your help.

Yes, it works quite well with the translation, it makes everything a lot
easier.

And I finally beat the tutorial, yay. What I found out when I played the
last map of the tutorial is, that I got infos about the terrain in the
clipboard. So, when I pressed nvda+shift+y on the map, it would tell me
things like water, mountain etc. That's the way how I found the map exit
too. I just monitored the clipboard and found it that way. But it was kind
of by accident nonetheless, since I didn't realize that exit tiles are just
normal tiles where you have to end the turn to take it. Lol. Well, I know
now.
But I really don't know if you get terrain info in the clipboard on other
maps or if it was just the tutorial. There was a menu option though where
you could check the terrains of the map and where which terrain is, but I
forgot how it was called. Somewhere in the menu you get when you press tab
while in a level. I believe it was the first or second option. There even
was an option where the game plays a sound in the stereofield depending on
where the selected terrain type is, and it also gets louder and quieter,
just sounding like any sounds when you move on the map.

Hope that helps you out a bit. *smiles*

I also beat the first map of the plains already and 5 of my chars got to
level 2.

Btw, when do I get skills to use? None of my chars has any skills yet. And
what does have to increase for skills, the character level or the job
level?

Thanks for helping. *smiles*

Best regards
Sarah

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-24 Thread Shadow Dragon
Strange. When I use browse mode and go over all the different tiles, all I
get are coordinates on the map. I wonder if I messed with a setting
somewhere that stopped that from working? I'll have to see what I can figure
out. I have seen the option you were talking about where the game plays
sounds to show you the different terrain parts on the map, but I haven't
found it all that useful. And I'm still wondering if there's some method to
find out if the tile you're on has a spacific purpose, like escaping or
ending the map or activating a bonus map, I'll have to experiment with the
options in the game and see what's there.

As for skills, you should start getting them very soon. You gain skills both
at character and job levels, and they're very much class spacific. You'll
definitely have at least one skill on each character before you clear the
first area.

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-24 Thread Sarah Haake

Hi,

ok, thanks for the info about skills.

For the terrain info I got on the tutorial map, I did check the tile in move
mode, not in browse mode. When you do it in browse mode only the coordinates
are shown, that's the same for me here. But in move mode it worked. But as I
said, I don't know if it always works, because now I only get info about
party members and enemies in my range when I check the clipboard in move
mode. But maybe it works on maps where there actually are different
terrains, I didn't see much of them yet after all.

Best regards
Sarah

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-24 Thread Shadow Dragon
It turns out you can get the terrain to display in browse mode. There's a
setting in the options menu where you can turn off the coordinate display.
Then as you arrow over tiles, it either displays nothing, or a terrain type.
It even tells you about event tiles like entrances and exits to maps and
bonus caves. Definitely something I'm going to have to play with more. You
have to alt tab out to get it to translate the terrain tiles correctly,
because pressing shift copies your coordinates to the clipboard in the game.
Or you could change your translation key, but I just alt tab out if I need
to know what terrain I'm going over, since I don't need that info often.
Combine this with control and the arrow keys, which causes the cursor in
browse mode to move until it encounters an obstacle of note, and you can
examine maps for special tiles and terrain fairly easily. I'm going to go
back through the maps I've played already and see if I've missed anything
special. That's going to be a lot of maps though, lol.

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-23 Thread Shadow Dragon
You can complete the tutorial if you want, but you don't actually get
anything for it. I did with at least one of my saved games, but it isn't
really necessary.

There is no way to exit a map, at least not officially. If you hit alt f4
while you're in the alt menu it does exit the game, but it won't save your
progress. You can save by going out of town onto the world map and choosing
the save option close to the bottom of the list of options.

Just so you know, this is easily the most complex audiogame ever made. There
are tons of things to keep track of, from the 8 characters you play, to the
maps of varrying size, to item, equipment and skill management. As fun as
this game is, you might consider trying an easier japanese game first until
you get used to how things translate and how non-tactical RPG's play. It's
up to you and I'm really not trying to sound condescending or anything, but
this is definitely not one of the easiest games to start with.

Subject: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

Hi,

so, I finally got this game to work under Windows 7, yay. *smiles*

But I'm stuck already.

First question is, how can I save my game? I just spent hours trying to
complete the tutorial and finally gave up. There was no way to exit the
current level though, I had to close the game with alt+F4 and nothing was
saved, which means I have to start over again, grrr. So, how can I save
and is there actually a way to exit a level if I have to stop playing? I
already realized that some levels can take quite some time and therefore
it's possible that I have to stop in the middle of it.

My second question is about the tutorial. How on earth can I complete the
last level of it? It's the one where the different terrains are explained,
and I can't find the exit. I have the strong suspition that I run in
circles. Lol. So, any help would be appreciated, I don't even know where
to look for the exit or how to navigate this thing somewhat
systematically.

So, thanks for any help and best regards
Sarah

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia questions

2013-01-23 Thread Sarah Haake

Hi,

ok, I at least found the save feature. *g*

To be honest, I don't find the game too difficult yet. There are many things
to keep track of, but I find more time consuming than difficult. But maybe
that's because I've just started, I'll see how it goes when I get a bit
furter and maybe I'll switch to something else then, but I really want to
try it a bit more first.

My only real problem is the map navigation. Especially the jumping I don't
seem to grasp. Most times I get the jump sign when my turn starts, but when
I press the keys for jumping nothing happens. How do I know where I can jump
and in which direction? And is there any way to find out where the exit of a
map is, if it has one and doesn't just end when you defeated an enemy or
something?

Some pointers for navigation would be great. I know about and use the c key
and this map browser, but it doesn't always help. Especially not in
situations like in the last tutorial level where there is nothing on the map
and I have to find the exit without knowing where to look for it. Lol.

Thanks and best regards
Sarah

Re: [Audyssey] Brave of Cloudia SecondBoss Fight

2013-01-20 Thread Shadow Dragon
It is a Japanese tactical RPG, and probably one of the most complex, if not
the most complex audiogame I've ever played. There is no english equivalent
so you either need to know japanese or use translation to play it.
Unfortunately the site where it can be downloaded is down for maintenance at
the moment.

Blaze did about 1% damage to it. Yasutaka did a bit of damage, but not much.
And no matter what I do it regens, and teleports somewhere else on the
level. The only reason I beat it last time is because there's a bug that
made your monster pet thing level 99, which is probably how you beat it as
well unless you just recently started playing after he took that bug out.
Now I'm wondering if there isn't a bug that causes the lost soul to
regenerate all damage when it's turn starts, heh.

I don't remember. But all senshi skills are either damage or power ups.
Also, my senshi class levelled up a lot faster than that, strange. Maybe
only using skills and taking damage gets you job levels. Also, how'd you get
to the merchant and thief jobs if you're only level 3? Those are pretty far

ah, cool thanks for that, because yuko's at like level 3 but still
only has the first fighter skill, not sure what the job level is
actually do you happen to know what that even does? can't tell

I'm pretty sure merchant gives you more money from defeated enemies and lets

you sell items at a higher price depending on merchant level, and thief has

skills that can steal items and money and probably others I haven't seen
 yet.

it is a fun one though

Google translate works to translate this. You need to have the
 japanese
keyboard and IME installed from the control panel, then press alt
 shift
 in
the window to switch to japanese. I don't know how to install
 keyboards
 or
language sets in XP, so if you aren't using windows 7 I can't help you
 any
further than this. Note that this doesn't actually affect your
 keyboard,

 it

simply makes the japanese characters display correctly. Then just make
 sure

you select japanese to english in google translate, do not use detect
language as sometimes it tries to translate from chinese. Also note
 that
there are easier japanese games to start with, this one is difficult
 to
translate because it has massive equipment, skill, spell and tactics
 lists
so you spend a lot of your time just translating menues. It can also
 be
 hard

to figure out where you are on the battlefield and what you're
 fighting
unless you want to translate every single square of coordinates. It's
possible, but I'd recommend starting with another japanese game, like
Bokurano Daiboukenn 2, which is already partially translated, or
 Shadow
Line, which translates well and only has a few menues. Even Bokurano
Daiboukenn 1 is easier to translate than this game.
