I'm now more convinced that Foley is interested in someone just got a HC job
or just signed a contract extension. Either way, it is too difficult to grab
that person right now. But next year this time, maybe a little earlier, we
will get him. So Gary Patterson or Charlie Strong? Strong needs time to
prove that he can be a great HC.

Stocked with talent yes... but losing a helluva lot of experience.

Im still not convinced Meyer is returning.. nor am I convinced that
Addazzio will be able to effectively run the team. There were times
the camera was on him during games and he just looked completely lost
and unconfident. I remember one particular look on this face during
the SECCG he looked at Meyer like "well what do we do now?"... for
someone with his experience he should already know that answer. And
considering a comment i read in one of the articles today suggesting
that Addazzio is the man to run things while Meyer is out that said
Addazzio had a "brief stint as an OC for Indiana"... so isnt that
essentially saying he couldnt cut i then? And if so... doesnt that
say alot about maybe why our offense wasnt as productive? Look... as
an Line coach... I give him full credit.. he did a bang up job. I am
just not sure that he's cut out to be an OC. I see him more as a
manager.. .than I do a strategizer. Is Addazzio going to be OC AND
IHBC?? No way... not gonna work. We need a new OC who knows how to
game plan/make calls and let Addazzio manage.

now... can someone tell me exactly how much nitro you can ingest in
such and such time before you blow up? I need to make sure I only
take that much with me when I go to the game next year.

RE: [gatortalk] Interesting parallel

2009-12-29 Thread Ken Kirkley
I think that when the announcement was made there were a lot of emotions
tearing people apart. Regardless (or is it irregardless?) :-) once the
dust settled with or without Meyer, I think we would have been fine. Would
Rainey and Black really leave early to not be drafted? Would all the
potential recruits leave just because Meyer is gone? Some would, but the
core would stay intact.

The interesting thing about this years recruiting class is that we have a
very stocked team right now. These new recruits are to reload, not rebuild.
So even if we miss on a few, it won't be all damaging and put us behind
others in the state as some would like you to believe. The biggest downside
to this years class is the numbers, we can sign the full 25 this year and
with some attrition, we might sign fewer or take risks on lower rated
prospects. My belief is in the end, we will end up with a top 5 class and
all will be well.

Its worse that that.

Rumor is - when Meyer announced his retirement - a lot of the juniors were
much more likely to leave and a lot of the recruits were less likely to
arrive.

Would have been a HUGE drop off in talent.

Has anyone wondered if Meyer leaving and then returning for the "family" and
to "finish a job" is an object lesson for all the juniors thinking of
leaving?
