The O line actually did a pretty good job till Grier decided to f
everything up. Treon took to long to get rid of the ball. He (literally)
couldnt see over the Oline. From my seats.. i could see what he was looking
at last year.. and he didnt throw the ball until he saw the receiver
between the oline.

Lesson learned: Dont recruit anyone under 6' to play QB.

Yes, you can cheat. And, you are correct. We need the O line as much as we need

Can I cheat and choose the Pouncey brothers as a single pick? Seriously,
though, it's our OL that needs the most help in my view. Get that straightened
out and everything else will fall into place. We have a great defense and
plenty of talent at all the key skill positions on offense. Just give them an
extra second or two each play and they'll do fine. I know our QBs are unproven,
but I believe we have some very good talent there. I am hopeful that all that
experience last year for our very young OL will result in a competent OL this
year, and give the rest of the offense the protection they need to move the
ball.

RE: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: Daily Football Fix: Which UF player would you bring back?

2016-07-05 Thread Oliver Barry

There a lot of good players who could fit in here.

Lomas Brown would be a little help on the O line.

I’d like to have Alex Brown back for the Tennessee game, with Kevin Carter on
the other side of the line.

Jack Youngblood as full time for Alex after Tennessee.

How about adding Brad Culpepper to that line. He was the first Gator I saw do
the Gator Chomp on the field.

That was after stuffing an Alabama back for a loss at Alabama. I became a
proud Gator Chomper after that.

Lots of WRs. Reidel Anthony, Chris Collinsworth, Carlos Alvarez, Chris
Doering, Ike Hilliard, Ricky Nattiel.

Steve Spurrier would be the best leader of all the quarterbacks we’ve had.

Oliver Barry for Waterboy Emeritus.

Re: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: Daily Football Fix: Which UF player would you bring back?

2016-07-05 Thread Sandy Alonso
Actually, Woody, you're probably right. Meyer & Co. essentially "broke"
Brantley by trying to make him a running QB and then doing crazy crap like
dive plays the first two downs (for little or no gain) and then make him
pass on a 3rd and long. Over and over and over again, to the point that a
three-year-old who'd never watched football before even knew that UF was
going to pass on 3rd down. All those pressures, hurries, and sacks led to
incompletions or interceptions, which effectively destroyed the poor guy's
confidence.
