I very casually asked this question like any other member would ask to his close friend. It was not any kind of Interrogation either (as you felt so). So plz. mind your language, especially when you correspond in a public forum. As with most list disputes this one seems to centre on a matter of tone. I certainly did find your tone, as I have found your tone in past mails as rather abrasive and demanding. Perhaps I'm wrong or perhaps that's just the way you normally communicate - apologies if I read too much into it. And what makes you say that 'Guys Like Me take GB parties for granted' I do think this does happen particularly on the part of people who did not experience the party scene before GB started organising its parties or haven't lived outside Bombay or Delhi and seen what its like without an organisation like GB to organise events. Please note I don't make any claim that GB parties are that wonderful. I've personally long got bored with them, but I still help organise them for the benefit of the community (more precisely, to support Dee who does all the real organising). The GB parties are organised by a small bunch of guys who have other commitments on their time, so they are the best we can organise in the time we have and the spaces that become available for us. We don't expect lavish gratitude for this, but we would like people to recognise that these aren't quite the same as professionally organised parties. These are community parties, organised by and for members of the community, and some appreciation of this would be nice. We welcome suggestions and constructive criticism, but not demands and your mails do have a tendency to come out out sounding like that. When any such GB parties are arranged, do you arrange them for charity? Or rather let me ask you whether you throw such parties to the entire community out of your own pocket? Certainly not. I don't quite know what you're asking here, but I can say that none of the GB organisers benefits personally from the parties. We don't even get in free, since we all pay the full price. The parties are charged at the rate the club charges us or sometimes there is a small margin added on which goes to fund the film festivals and other GB events, plus acts as a buffer for when parties fall short of minimum numbers - our deal with clubs is that we guarantee them a minimum number of people and compensate them if this falls short, so believe me we are very interested in plenty of people coming! Also when anyone comes to attend these parties, he or she pays for it, as nothing comes for free in this world. Nothing comes free, but things can come more expensive. Hop across to Delhi and see the sort of price gouging that happens for commercially organised farmhouse parties over there. Many of us too actively participate in most of the GB events. And I feel we have every right to know about the factor that caused the change to our normal routine of having GB parties...Its as simple as that... And rather than creating such a silly dispute, you should have courteously informed everyone about the reason for changing the day for this event. As we would have done if we had known in advance that the party would be shut down. But if you've been reading the papers you would have seen that the Velocity shut down was part of a city wide crack down on pubs and that none of them knew in advance. So it would have been a little difficult to inform people in advance. We did give an explanation the day after.
