Assuming this is the same error, it's still failing on today's trunk.  After
configuring with the following options:

--enable-languages=ada,c,c++,fortran,go,java,jit,lto,objc,obj-c++
--enable-host-shared

I got the error below.  I added the --enable-host-shared after a configure
error that said it was needed for jit.

Confirmed on x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, but builds OK on
powerpc64le-unknown-linux-gnu.

Using --with-pic seems to work.

just wanted to add, that I've found you can easily work around by
make BOOT_CFLAGS='-fPIC -g -O2'
(I don't know if something additionally gets compiled with -fPIC that needn't
or shouldn't)
