Re: [Geeqie-devel] Consider adding an Up button

The attached diff file should get you an Up button.Unfortunately an existing
geeqierc.xml file will prevent an new toolbar item being displayed, so you
will need to edit that file to include the new item. It's perhaps easiest to
rename geeqierc.xml, run geeqie to generate a new file, and look for the
change that needs to be made - it will be one extra line in the toolbar
section. up_button.diff

I think, that is the new policy of sourceforge; to make money out of
 free software.
I can't recall any of the most used free software licenses which ban
making money out of free software. Even the most virus like GPL
doesn't ban use of GPL'ed software in the commercial projects.

One more reason to completely go to another platform.
There is no guaranty that another platform will not start adding its ads
(if it didn't already).

Klaus

[Geeqie-devel] Consider adding an Up button

2013-09-14 Thread Jeffery Small

For future development, next to the Back button on the toolbar, consider
adding an Up button that takes you up one directory level. I know that
.. is available at the head of the navigation list, but that list is
often scrolled down and .. is unavailable without first having to scroll
to the top. Having a fixed Up button would be a real convenience and
then .. could be dropped from the list, allowing one more item to be
displayed in its place.

The updating of thumbnail images when file names change seems to be vastly
improved from before. However, I still occasionally see geeqie get
confused somehow and the thumbnails get out of sync with the actual content
-- or the thumbnail does not update automatically for some reason. The
right-click Refresh operation does not seem to force thumbnail updates
if geeqie thinks they are up-to-date. I would like to see Refresh (or
some other mechanism) force individual thumbnails to be recreated without
having to do this system-wide by recreating the entire cache or for the
entire directory which might contain hundreds of images.

Thanks.
