FW: [GUMP@brutus]: jakarta-cactus/jakarta-cactus-integration-ant-13 prerequisite failed
Hi, How should I understand this email? It says the project has *no longer* an issue. So why do I get an email? Also it says that there is a Prerequisite failed. Then it says the optional dependency on checkstyle was not available. But it's optional so it shouldn't fail the build. Now, if I look on the web page, it says that bootstrap-ant failed. So that may be the reason. So 2 questions: 1/ why do I get an email on a prereq failure? Is it normal? 2/ why does the email below not include the reason of the prereq failure (i.e. bootstrap-ant)? And I was in the Carribean. It took Swedish Telecom 2-3 days to locate where the 'spammer' came from, and discontinue the 'phone call', since it went via a X.24 network as well. Nevertheless, when I arrived back, there was a note; Call Telecom at ..., and when I did, the receptionist knew me by name, and the person in charge, was laughing hilariously on the border of sounding insane, trying to convince me 'please don't do that again'. Story doesn't end there... A few weeks later (Easter Friday), whilst trying to fix this problem, I had managed to put an inaccessible unit in such a state again, and I called the person in charge, and notified that something similar just happened again, but that if they modified the error code (i.e. send back number doesn't exist), the program would recover. He then jumps into his car, drives the 300km to his office, do the change, program recovers, change back the number, and drive the 300km back... (He lives in the north of Sweden, where 300km is 'just around the corner'). Same year, by sending a single illegal character to the SOS Alarm service (911) VAX computer, the serial port driver crashed, and their Pager services, low-priority alarm (such as people stuck in elevators) and other communications halted. I saw it as Hmmm, no response anymore., a few days later, Ahhh, it is up again..., some more trying to get a program working, Again, no response... fewer days, and same thing... What you need to do is to change your codebase to use the newer Level and Logger instead of Priority and Category, which has been around since 1.2.0. Log4J mistakenly also removed the RootCategory and replaced with a RootLevel, but there were no interim 'deprecated' period, so after Avalon was affected by the change the RootCategory was re-introduced in their codebase. So, 1. You change your codebase. 2. If you release, you can build and release against/together with Log4J 1.2.8 3. Such release will also work with Log4J 'next release'. 4. Re: [Mx4j-devel] MX4J and Gump (and another log4j deprecation effect)
From time to time we get an email similar to this one, and we try to promptly fix the build. Thanks, that is aprpeciated, so mind if automate that? This entry will do it. nag from=Simone Bordet lt;[EMAIL PROTECTED]gt; to=[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ I am in a busy period now, but I'll try to get the build going as soon as I can, running against the latest stable Log4J (which I thought we were already doing, against 1.2.8 if I remember well). Yup, that is correct. This notification is a warning for their upcoming release, giving you time to get ahead of the game. You ought have some time. The only thing I'd prefer to avoid is to make our build running against the latest CVS (which are usually unstable), since this is gump's job. 100% agreed. If Log4J removed deprecated API, fine for all, but I'd prefer to wait for a stable release of Log4J before modifying MX4J's build. If you think there is a better approach, please let me know. Niclas' suggestions are spot on. That fix is the right way for MX4J to 'play nicely' with the widest/most used range of released log4j's (including the up coming one). [Log4j did a good job of making Level and Priority available two years before they removed the deprecated classes.] (I believe your use case is a simple one, with no binary compatible issues.) Thanks for being patient with deprecated APIs. Thanks for using Apache software. regards, Adam - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Sending mails and reports
I have certain that maven rc3 returns errors for the shell. To prove it, i do this tests. The return value of maven was 70, indicating that an error happened: Ok, good. Hmm, hold on a mo -- it's not been well tested with CYGWIN. Does Gump realy work fine on windows 2000?? If not, what the functionalities that are not I did recall that with Python, exitcode handling is different on Microsoft verse *nix, so I just ran these unit tests on W2K: def testGoodLaunch(self): env=Cmd('env') result=execute(env) self.assertEqual('Ought succeed', result.state,CMD_STATE_SUCCESS) def testBadLaunch(self): env=Cmd('eXnXv') result=execute(env) self.assertEqual('Ought failed', result.state, CMD_STATE_FAILED) def testFailedLaunch(self): env=Cmd('exit 2') result=execute(env) self.assertEqual('Ought failed', result.state, CMD_STATE_FAILED) self.assertEqual('Ought failed', result.exit_code, 2) The Maven builder runs very similar code. # # Get the appropriate build command... # cmd=self.getMavenCommand(project) if cmd: # Execute the command cmdResult=execute(cmd, workspace.tmpdir) # Update Context work=CommandWorkItem(WORK_TYPE_BUILD,cmd,cmdResult) project.performedWork(work) project.setBuilt(1) # Update Context w/ Results if not cmdResult.state==CMD_STATE_SUCCESS: reason=REASON_BUILD_FAILED I just can't fathom why this isn't being detected. I even tried it with a value of 70. Can you send me a full log, point to point? Could you do it with --debug (you might need to pass 'all' and '--debug'.) regards Adam - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Peas and Carrots on Brutus
I have set up blojsom on brutus to run Peas and Carrots. http://brutus.apache.org:8080/blojsom/blog/ I also have a cron job to update /home/gump/blog with anoncvs. If it looks ok and infra has no objections I will let brutus take over peas and carrots. Re: Blog and More ... link
You can use the more/ tag to tell blojom where to break at. I think we should have the license AFTER the more. Adam R. B. Jack wrote: I was just noticing this also. When Nick and I were previewing this last night it looked good. I think there was a PREVIEW work (before title), a PREV here link/link, and an hr/. It looked fine then. Interestingly http://www.planetapache.org displays it fine. I've just tried adding an hr/ to see if it affects things positively before Nick gets online... regards, Adam - Original Message - From: Stefan Bodewig [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 6:41 AM Subject: Blog and More ... link Hi, if you look at http://gump.chalko.com/gb/blog/Issues/?permalink=GumpStorm.txt, you'll see pretty much nothing at all because the More... link has been inserted somewhere in the middle of a comment (the license). blojsom doesn't seem to deal with comments well at all - it certainly shouldn't place the link somewhere inside and if you look at the main Peas and Carrots page you will see the license as clear text. I almost feel inclined to remove the license completely to work around this - or is there a better solution? More comment silliness can be seen here http://gump.chalko.com/gb/blog/Issues/?permalink=Cactus-CommonsHttpclient.t xt where the license becomes part of the rdf:description part for the trackback auto-discovery stuff, but the -- isn't escaped correctly leading to more problems. Mozilla displays the closing comment marker as clear text for example. commons-beanutils - commons-beanutils-core (was Re: cvs commit: gump/project jakarta-commons.xml)
I see a few projects affected by the beanutils split. If beanutil-core is likely what folks want for beanutils we could make transition smoother using an alias technique (like the one used when ant went TLP): project name=jakarta-ant depend project=ant inherit=jars/ /project project name=ant ...
