Please fix it 8-) Fixed. Set the time, ran ntpdate for an additional nudge, then started /etc/init.d/ntp. The latter will not start if the offset is too large. The only additional measure at hand would be to use a local ntp server, but I figure that the pool of Debian servers currently configured will do.
