Re: expat-configure problem
On 2010-08-14, Bill Barker wrote: Yes, the problem is that the version of libtool is too new. The buildconf script needs to copy additional files to make this work on vmgump's version of autoconf. From google, it seems that the expat project knows this as well. A quick search only showed problems with APR and HTTPd which both bundle expat's source tree. I'd say let the project fix it. However, I made a copy of expat to my home directory, and saw that if the exconf-buildconfig project uses the autoreconf as it's script, then expat seems to build fine. I don't have any idea what autoreconf may be 8-) Of course, this means that other Gump installs would need to update their version of libtool (or it will fail on them). helios is bound to go away and be replaced, I don't know which version of libtool is going to be there. Sander, do you know which version of libtool is installed on the XServe machine? The other alternative is to downgrade libtool on vmgump. Doesn't feel right. We could install expat as well and make apr/httpd use the system provided one so at least they will be able to build. We can always make the use Gump's expat once we figured out how to build it. Yes. Gump got a new virtual machine an OpenJDK is what you get by default on Ubuntu 10.4 if you ask for some falvor of Java. No one works on that component anymore so don't see how this could be fixed (aside from switching Gump over to a JDK which Stylebook actually works with). We have no plans to move off of Stylebook for generating Xerces' documentation. Perhaps 'dist-xerces' should be disabled for now or at least the nag e-mails which are becoming noise on our development mailing list. I don't think we are going to switch to a different Java SDK at the moment and nothing will magically fix Stylebook, so it would probably be the best idea to completely remove the project - it will never get fixed. Like Bill said, you can modify the metadata yourself - no other project depends on dist-xerces so completely removing the project-element won't do any harm. If you need any help, just ask. Right. I dabbled in the metadata ages ago but wanted to check first that I wasn't about to rip something out that someone depends on (or if there were any alternatives). The project is gone now. Thank you for asking, Michael. There is a page linked from each project's Gump page (at the bottom) that lists all dependencies, like http://vmgump.apache.org/gump/public/xml-xerces/dist-xerces1/details.html (using dist-xerces1 as an example). The project is gone now. Thanks for that as well Stefan - To unsubscribe, e-mail: general-unsubscr...@gump.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: general-h...@gump.apache.org
