[RESULT] [VOTE] Release Apache Trafodion 2.0.0 (incubating)

2016-06-03 Thread Steve Varnau
This vote passes, with condition of not including the client binary
package.

-1 (binding) Justin Mclean (With client convenience binary)
+1 (binding) Justin Mclean (Without the client convenience binary)
+1 (binding) Michael Stack (carried over from dev list vote)
+1 (binding) Jean-Baptiste Onofre
+1 (binding) Sergio Fernandez

Thanks to those who took time to review and vote!

The podling community will decide whether to spin another release
candidate to fix the
client binary to NOT bundle OpenSSL or to release 2.0.0 (without client
binary) and follow
it immediately with a patch (2.0.1) release.

Re: [VOTE] Graduate Apache Twill as Top Level Project

2016-06-03 Thread Julian Hyde
I see a small community with slow growth (Henry is the only committer appointed
since incubation, Terence does the majority of the commits, and if the mentors
leave the project after graduation the active PMC is dangerously close to 3
members) but it is a glass half full. The project is being used, the community
is growing, and the members of the project know the Apache way. There is
nothing to be gained from keeping this project in incubation.

+1 (binding)

… and good luck!

Re: [VOTE] Graduate Apache Twill as Top Level Project

2016-06-03 Thread Terence Yim
Hi John,

As Henry pointed out earlier, although it is a small community, we do see
constant increase in mailing list subscribers as well as contributions from
active Twill users.

BTW, +1 (non-binding) from me.

A "History" page seems like the perfect solution...

I am not sure I like the statement that:

"including both individuals and institutions. Amongst our current
 contributors:"

and then a list of entities.

There are only individuals who contribute. Not institutions. In other
words, Pivotal is not a "contributor"... nor is ANY institution.

 Please fix this. Thx!

Re: MADLib "contributors"

2016-06-03 Thread Jim Jagielski
I am sorry but it really seems that some PPMCs make it all the
way through graduation without still groking some basic tenets
of the Apache Way. There are some still in the Incubator which
seem to still have issues.

I started a list of such projects and there are common patterns
related to where they came from and mentors. It would suggest
that some mentors are overworked.
