Re: [DISCUSS] Project proposal - Apache AgensGraph
Feel the same thing. I see the contributors of these two projects are almost the same so I assume that the old AgensGraph is also maintained by the same community and will abandoned? And an interesting observation is that, the AgensGraph project changed the license to AGPL in the past and then after several month changed back to AL 2.0. https://github.com/bitnine-oss/agensgraph/commit/d27242e3e0c8ef6a94e6785d27e25224836a2c53 https://github.com/bitnine-oss/agensgraph/commit/4229bf7a7449029c33f194c45ab2afe3ca0b08dc Mind explaining a bit about the movement? And will this introduce any legal problems? Thanks. Re: [DISCUSS] Project proposal - Apache AgensGraph
Just a general question from someone who tries to follow what happens in the graph community in general - what is the relationship between "AgensGraph" and "AgensGraph Extensions"? https://github.com/bitnine-oss/agensgraph https://github.com/bitnine-oss/agensgraph-ext I see that the README for AgensGraph Extensions says: > AgensGraph Extension, which is a successor of AgensGraph, is developed as an extension of PostgreSQL. and I see where the proposal states: > Prior to AgensGraph extension, there was an existing forked project which is publicly available as an open-source on the following link: https://github.com/bitnine-oss/agensgraph > While working on the fork version of this project, we found out that there are increasing voices asking for an extension of AgensGraph. It was then when we decided to develop and work on the extension version to provide more benefits to PostgreSQL users such as easy installation and compatibility. so does all of this just mean that AgensGraph is no longer under development and all new development is for AgensGraph Extensions? Or am I missing the difference between these two projects somehow and how they relate to each other? [DISCUSS] Project proposal - Apache AgensGraph
We would like to propose AgensGraph as an Apache incubator project. The AgensGraph Extension provides an extension for PostgreSQL to give the users the ability to leverage graph database on top of the existing relational database with minimal effort. The basic principle of the project is to create single storage that can handle both relational and graph model data so that the users can use the standard ANSI SQL along with openCypher (http://www.opencypher.org), the Graph query language. The proposal can be found here: o https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INCUBATOR/AgensGraphExtension We would appreciate your feedback and thoughts on the proposal. Cheers! Re: Do Pooling jars have to contain the DISCLAIMER too?
Hi Justin, I agree that they should ... especially if you don't build from source or use the pre-compiled binaries you otherwise wouldn't have any reference to the software undergoing incubation at the ASF. Was sort of just asking if it's a "should" (still a +1 with a notice to fix for next time), a "must" (-1) or a "I don’t care" (+1 and not even a notice) I would clearly like to argue for a "must". Hi Justin, I might have missed your message about the name. Do you want me to do a quick search about Rainbow ? (It sounds like a very generic name to me). Do Pooling jars have to contain the DISCLAIMER too?
Hi all, currently validating a podlings release and I stumbled over the following fact: * The src and bin bundles contain a DISCLAIMER * All of their project-jars in any of the bin bundles and the jars in Apache’s Nexus don’t have one Is this considered OK or should they all have a DISCLAIMER? I would opt for all artifacts should have one as if you’re using maven you will probably otherwise not notice having jars from incubating projects in your build. What do you others think? Chris

Hi, I’m not sure my query about the name has been taken onboard. It it likely that this name will pass a podling name search? Infra don’t like having to change a podlings name.
