Re: [Tizen General] can't login or register on tizen.org

2017-09-18 Thread Jason Ross
This has been an issue for a while: I reached out to the Tizen team about a
month ago with a related issue I'm having (I once had SSH access to gerrit,
but that seems to no longer be the case, and as you point out, there's no
way to register anymore other than contacting the Jira admins through that
form, which apparently goes to a black hole based on the no response
despite multiple attempts). All the "how to get Tizen source" documentation
says to register at the site, but that is all apparently wrong at this
point.

I just added this as one more check in the 'why Tizen feels unready for
production' tally sheet and moved on, but maybe posting here will stir the
pot enough to bring about some positive change...

2017-09-18 Thread Peter Bohning

Yeah I don't know.  I ended up returning the samsung J727 I bought because despite being told it was unlocked and I could put whatever on it and it was fine for open source work by customer service, the bootloader was locked.

I got a xiaomi and I'm going to see what I can do with ubuntu touch.

Hi,

I'm interested in Tizen, but I can't login or register on the tizen site.  It says I already have an account but won't send me a password for it and there's no errors.  I tried contacting the JIRA admins through the form on the JIRA site but there was no response for, I don't know, a week.

It seems like I can just clone pieces of Tizen off of https://git.tizen.org/cgit/  , but the instructions for downloading all projects seem to require ssh access.  I was thinking about even just writing a little script to get the names of repositories from the website and then clone them off of https, but I feel like I'd end up with a broken directory structure and the wrong tags or the wrong repositories.  In fact, I'm not even clear why there are these separate repositories.

Actually, I hate google stuff and the "android" tree.  It seems like git submodule should suffice and that "repo" stuff is just an unnecessary extra tool to rely on google for.  That's the other thing is I couldn't find the manifest.xml files that one needs for even using repo with the tizen source, or maybe that's available in some project you have to download first?  Or GBS?

Anyway, if someone can even get me an account on tizen.org, I would be very grateful.  I'd really like to put Tizen 4 on my phone and I've already spent so many hours with android tree builds that I hope this will be a little easier, a little more sensible.

 Thanks,
