[gentoo-dev] Gentoo Council Reminder for June 25
(This is late because I was traveling and dev-zero is/was on devaway.) This is your friendly reminder! Same bat time (typically the 2nd 4th Thursdays at 2000 UTC / 1600 EST), same bat channel (#gentoo-council @ irc.freenode.net) ! If you have something you'd wish for us to chat about, maybe even vote on, let us know! Simply reply to this e-mail for the whole Gentoo dev list to see. For more info on the Gentoo Council, feel free to browse our homepage: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/council/ Attached is the preliminary meeting agenda. -- - Thomas Anderson Gentoo Developer / Areas of responsibility: AMD64, Secretary to the Gentoo Council - Define EAPI development/deployment cycles - Last meeting several members expressed support for Ciaran McCreesh's suggestions[1]. The discussion got sidetracked however and no consensus was reached. Goal: Decide on and approve a set of development and deployment guidelines for future EAPIs. EAPI 3 Progress --- zmedico will provide an update on the progress of the implementation in portage. If Brian Harring(ferringb) is present, he will give an update on the progress of the implementation in pkgcore. Discuss Past Year - Since this is the last meeting of the outgoing some asked for a discussion of the last year's accomplishments and obstacles for the next council to be aware of. In order for this to be productive the channel may have to be moderated. I think we agreed that we would send comments about the agenda before the meeting. The agenda presented seems fine to me. I don't see a need for doing any major votes in the last meeting. I didn't started to get the deployment part of the eapi-development and deployment discussion alive, mainly because Ciaranm has made a true point (we do need testing, of course) and i'm not really sure how to find a balanced way of clean eapi-deployment while also having extensive testing in-tree. Plus it seems i'm the only one interested in that discussion. - Tobias -- Gentoo Linux - Die Metadistribution http://www.mitp.de/5941 http://www.metadistribution.eu https://www.xing.com/profile/Tobias_Scherbaum signature.asc Description: Dies ist ein digital signierter Nachrichtenteil

[gentoo-dev] USE_EXPAND instead of SANE_BACKENDS for media-gfx/sane-backends
Hi all, I would like to introduce a new USE_EXPAND variable for the about 80 different SANE backends to make it a bit easier than looking into the source if you want to find possible backends and a bit harder to pick invalid backend names. Any objections or questions? Thanks for your feedback, Patrick

Thanks for your very detailed concrete examples where such a thing happened. And I'm sorry to have wasted your precious time by doing the opposite of what you claim here and still objecting to things that don't make sense. Now lets get back to useful things, like giving code names that make sense and don't need to be looked up with what is actually meant when they are being referred to in short names. -- Mart Raudsepp Gentoo Developer Mail: l...@gentoo.org Weblog: http://planet.gentoo.org/developers/leio signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
