This is probably more likely to be answered if you send it to the
-project mailing list.

Still no luck here, as this is new to me. Really, I'm lost on the

What should I be trying to do next?

If xev (x11-apps/xev) shows generated events and a keycodes when you
press these keys (on either KB),

It doesn't.

What the *keypad* does, after plugging in the usb keyboard, is act as a mouse.
I've never seen this... it's kinda cool, actually. Like using an etch-a-sketch.

This is what the device is:

usb 2-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
input: Logitech Logitech USB Keyboard as /class/input/input8
input: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard [Logitech Logitech USB Keyboard] on
usb-:00:1d.1-1

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c315 Logitech, Inc.

Some of the bug reports regarding this keyboard have to do with
misidentification as a mouse, so maybe that satisfies me enough to let it drop.
Maybe at some point in the future it'll just work...

Cheers,

[gentoo-user] small announcement for the community

2009-03-03 Thread Douglas J Hunley
A while back I setup a small cron job to parse the GLSA feed and post it to
Twitter. I've been tweaking it and watching it and it seems stable enough to
announce, so I'm sending this email out. If you want to, simply follow
@Gentoo_Security and you'll get 'instant' updates of new GLSAs

Please note that I'm not trying to step on any toes here, simply give
something small back to the community. If anyone from Gentoo wants to take
over the account or has an official one that I missed, simply ping me directly
and we'll work it out.

You can turn such behaviour on and off on any keyboard under X with
Shift+Ctrl+NumLock. Try it, maybe it will bring back numbers.

[gentoo-user] Kmail composer does not respect langauage selection

2009-03-03 Thread Alan McKinnon
Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is a real bug or just a stupid config error. I suspect
the latter.

kmail-4.2.0 displays mail using the correct language dictionary - English
(South Africa). However, the composer insists on using Afrikaans. If I
select Settings - SpellChecker and set the default drop-down to English all
is well, but it reverts with the next new mail.

I can find no language selection in kmail - Settings - Composer, my
country|region is set to South Africa in systemsettings, the only Languages
that systemsettings offers as choices are British and US English.

I have two Afrikaans dictionaries installed for occasional use:
app-dicts/aspell-af
app-dicts/myspell-af

My LINGUAS=en en_GB en_US en_ZA
aspell is built with USE=-linguas_af

AFAIK There are really less contributions. You can always contact the PR
of gentoo to get it forward.
Gentoo is based on the community so everyone who can/wants to contribute
should do it.
