Re: [gentoo-user] xlsfonts shows only a few fonts
thanks guys, i solved my problem. i ask this question because my emacs cannot displays chinese, a there's no font for me to set. that is because i did not have the 'xft' feature enabled for my emacs. i recompiled emacs with 'xft' use flag, and my emacs works fine for me. ;) -- Best Regards, David Shen http://twitter.com/davidshen84/

So it's not a ebuild issue, it's just a lack of coding from upstream. I have a Gentoo account but I rarely file anything. Dale :-) :-)
Re: [gentoo-user] KDE4 doesn't heed hal keyboard settings
hey Frank, that was exactly my problem! :-) I also had ibus installed and I had those variables set. now they don't exist, my keyboard is [almost] working with HAL. now some other problems came up (like 1) when I press /, the cursor goes to the beginning of the text field and then the character / is displayed; 2) when I pressed DEL it emits PrtScn and then DEL). but it's a start, I've never imagined that ibus was the cause of this.

I am on ~x86, and Chinese characters works. xlsfonts -l lists all available fonts (though personally I prefer using xfontsel since it doesn't lock up the system the same way), more lines than there can fit in my rxvt buffer. Are there any font-related messages in the Xorg logs? You really need to provide a LOT more information before we can help you: (1) Any interesting log messages from Xorg? (2) Config files for Xorg? (3) emerge -pv of the relevant packages? (4) Error messages from emacs? (5) Since you stated emacs and not xemacs, are you running it in a terminal emulator in X? and if so, which one? These are just some of the ones that comes to mind, feel free to add more information that you think may be useful. Cheers, W -- Willie W.
