this netfinity5000 comes with a RAID card. it can configure using IBM
Server Guide CD. so i bootd from that cd but its said not enough ram
'need 256mb'.

I've got a nearly identical setup, except i've got the second proc,
but 3 9 gig drives.
Here's what I did: set up a 100 meg partition (bootable) on all 3
drives. set up a second partition for the rest of the space on all 3
drives. use mdadm to create a raid 1 (mirror) with /dev/sda1 and /
dev/sdb1. use mdadm to create a raid 5 with /dev/sda2, sdb2 and
sdc2. create a volume group with /dev/md1 (raid 5) as the pv. then
create an lv for root, one for swap, home, var and tmp, and usr.
mount all that on /mnt/gentoo, then mount /dev/md0 on /boot. after
untarring the stage and snapshot and chrooting into the environment,
use genkernel --lvm2 --dmraid --menuconfig --install all to create my
kernel (genkernel follows the /usr/src/linux symlink, so make sure
it's right). the only other thing is to make sure all your scsi
drivers are built into the kernel, not modules and make sure you put
the initrd line in the grub.conf. at what point is it telling you
you don't have enough ram? did you swapon your swap before chrooting?

 Hi,

if you want to use prozilla, just change the FETCHCOMMAND and
 RESUMECOMMAND in /etc/make.conf

There is some examples in /etc/make.conf.example, but not for prozilla ...

 HTH.

 Boris

PS: With portage-2.1_pre* you can use the parallel fetch, just add
parallel-fetch in the FEATURES variable ...

how can i get to know all these portage features?

gnome is much more windows like than KDE.

With KDE you have lots and lots of options to configure the desktop to your
liking. This is not possible with gnome (it could confuse the users, say the
gnome devs). Something gnome has in common with windows.

Thank You Antoine for your questions

For this situation, all you really need is small Switch at each room
connected to the computers in the room. And connect all those switches
to a main switch which is connected to the internet/router/FileServer.

I would agree, except insofar as the costs of wiring are
prohibitive. I have installed wireless networking quite a bit for
clients where the costs of wiring were higher than the costs of
wireless networking equipment, even with monthly wep key changes, or
 quarterly wpa key changes.
I would recommend against Wireless for office situations due the
  diffuclty in securing it.

there's not a lot of difficutling securing wirelessjust some
tedium. even wep is secure, if you change the keys often enough. As
for wirelss being slowersure, i've only got 54 mps from this
laptop to my switch...but i've only got 3 mbps from the switch to the
internet, so what? if you're not doing computer/computer file
transfers of large size, who really needs 100 mbps? I've been doing
network administration for 16 years and, with the exception of
certain graphic artists I could name, 99% of my users have not
exceeeded 10 mbps of ethernet. much less the 54 of 802.11g.
(okay, I KNOW you don't actually get to push that much data, but even
at practical throughputs, you exceed 10).

What kind of server? What do you want to archieve by clustering?
Redundancy? Request distribution? Depending on that, even DNS round
