Re: [gentoo-user] KDE 3.4 disk access

Is the disc activity there constantly, or just after you logged in?
How much ram does your machine have? Anything you have done to your hardware
since upgrading to 3.4?

to my eyes, anyway. If I log into KDE 3.3, the disk is quiet. How might I
discover what is running to cause the disk access? Thanks.

php script that reads the log file and plots a nice web page with those
 stats.

Or can anyone suggest another solution?

Re: [gentoo-user] 6x13 font for gnome-terminal

2005-07-26 Thread Oscar Carlsson
I think gnome-terminal only can handle xft-fonts (and that's probably a
feature)...
Have you considered trying some older (and not so user friendly) terminal?
rxvt, xterm, urxvt and aterm are all pretty nice, memory efficent and fast,
and you can do everything in them that you could in gnome-terminal (well,
almost) :-)

All my screens are 1600x1200 pixels.

calls a 6x13 font. Its real name is
 -Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-SemiCondensed--13-120-75-75-C-60-ISO8859-1

This permits 3 side by side windows (frames in emacs) of 81 columns.

I have tried every fixed-width frame I found in the list given for
gnome-terminal and cannot find one this size.

Is there some way I can tell gnome-terminal to use
 -Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-SemiCondensed--13-120-75-75-C-60-ISO8859-1
or, even better, tell gnome to make this font available on the menus?

 thanks,

[gentoo-user] Web based ssh-client?

2005-07-26 Thread Oscar Carlsson
Hello everyone :)

I'm currently at work (in a drug store, or whatever it's called in english (: ), using a public computer, and I don't think I dare to download and run putty on this machine...
So I'm out looking for a web based ssh client, like a package I can put on a webserver, and run whenever necessary.
I'm not even sure this machine has java installed, so something based on like php / perl (or whatever packages you might find on a webserver), and hopefully something secure would be nice...

Is there any such thing out there?

Oscar

I think it will give you all you need. Its code completion
