Re: [gentoo-user] fglrxconfig question

Greetings,

not sure about the illegal instruction issue, but with a Radeon 9250
you can use the drivers provided by xorg, I think, for 3D goodness
etc. and don't need to use fglrx. Have a look at this:

[gentoo-user] fglrxconfig question

2005-05-03 Thread maxim wexler
Hi,

Thanks for the encouragement.

Now I've hit another roadblock on the path to gentoo
enlightenment -- I hope it's not too obvious! I
googled it to no avail.

I just emerged ati-drivers for a Radeon 9250 vid-card
then ran fglrxconfig. On the very first section
"Mouse" the program asks for the mouse port type and
gives three choices, 1.serial, 2.ps2/usb, 3.bus-type.
[2] (my mouse type) is already selected so I hit enter
and get, Illegal instruction and the progam aborts.
OK, so I manually enter 2, same thing, Illegal
instruction. Doesn't matter what I enter I get Illegal
instruction.

I followed the Gentoo ATI Radeon FAQ and config'd the
kernel just like it said. No joy.

Anybody got any pointers?
