Re: [gentoo-user] Questions about java, Seamonkey and random hangs.
Dale wrote: OK. I emerged the one you mentioned. I mostly did it because now when I go to the weather radar, Seamonkey starts to load the page then crashes completely. Even Konqueror doesn't work most of the time. What the heck is going on with this? I need my weather because we have some really nasty storms this time of year and I would like to see it coming, so I know to duck. Any ideas? Is it me or the website? Thanks. Dale :-) :-) Well, after not knowing anything else to do, I did a emerge -ev world. It seems to work like it was before. Read that as Seamonkey hangs until the page is completely loaded. It doesn't crash at least. Still open to ideas. Dale :-) :-) :-) -- www.myspace.com/-remove-me-dalek1967 Copy n paste then remove the -remove-me- part.

It sounds like perhaps you don't have the JRE setup for Mozilla. I would recommend using the sun-jre ebuild rather than the installer from the sun site, with the nsplugin USE flag enabled. So, add nsplugin to USE in /etc/make.conf, and them emerge sun-jre-bin and see if that helps you. You probably should close all instances of Seamonkey during the install... R I should clarify this. It has a fetch restriction on the Sun java package. You have to download it, then move it to distfiles to emerge it. It's a license thing I guess. I do have nsplugin in my USE line also. I do have this jre installed: [EMAIL PROTECTED] / # equery list jre [ Searching for package 'jre' in all categories among: ] * installed packages [I--] [ ] virtual/jre-1.5.0 (1.5) [EMAIL PROTECTED] / # I'll give that one you mentioned a try in a little while. I'm trying to download a Gentoo 2006.1 CD over a 26K dial-up. :-( My pipe is about full at the moment. Thanks for the info. I'll post back what blows up. It had a bug and someone told me to use those above and it has worked fine until now. It still does it though. Sort of strange and a pest. I can't even read emails while it is loading up the page and images. Any ideas? Do you use Google earth? Do you experience any problems with it? Using a similar technology (AJAX), it has a heavy load of images. Try it and tell us if there are problems. -- Fabio A. Correa D. I have used Googleearth before but not since this started. My dial-up is very slow so it takes forever. I have went and took a shower while it was loading. :-( Isn't there still a blackdown java out there? Think it would be worth waiting on and installing? By waiting on, I mean the time to download it. I'm open to ideas here. Thanks Dale :-) :-) :-) -- www.myspace.com/-remove-me-dalek1967 Copy n paste then remove the -remove-me- part. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
