The real question is how enormous are those problems relative to those resulting from the ongoing lack of more conventional, effective human actions on climate change? "Who is authorized to act on Earth-wide bio-geo-chemical systems?" Given the enormous impact humans are having on Earth-wide bio-geo-chemical systems, it looks like we've authorized ourselves. Now comes the hard part of doing it sustainably, or is that too ethically scary?
