What I meant was that your server may be behind a firewall, which is permitting

  No, on my local machine with no firewall enabled. Multiple clients of me are 
reporting the same issue. Also, the getcapabilities are coming through nicely, 
but only the describefeaturetype isn't.

publish the layers in that WFS store. When I try to do that in geoserver 2.6.0 
and 2.6.2, I get an error when publishing a layer (ie. doing a
